ok so if a new engine is really that powerful compared to used ones, why not take the 5 place penalty every race? Especially if there are reliability issues after a couple races (Danny's Merc engine just gave out)

I would disagree with that.
Hamilton will win the race and deserves it because he didn’t make any mistakes. That doesn’t make for driver of the day though.
What did LeClerc do? Ferrari’s race was straight forward.
