Bottas brilliant in holding off Max. Now, if he can just keep from getting clipped on the first turn tomorrow he may have a shot.

I gotta give credit where it's due... Lewis drove one hell of a sprint race... picking up 15 positions in 24 laps ain't easy, I dont care who you are

Also, what was the final gap between Bottas and Sainz in 3rd?? 18sec??

Damn near a second/lap quicker pace

The defensive drives like between Sainz and Perez tend slow them way down

Great job by Bottas, but now his job is to hold off Max tomorrow while Hamilton catches up. I missed qualy, are Bottas and Max starting on the same tires? If Max doesn't get him in Turn 1, I think with a little strategy Max will get in front, since he was easily keeping up with Bottas. Looks like Hamilton will have no problem getting to the podium though.

Everyone will likely be on mediums with a full fuel load.

It was pretty incredible how much speed Hamilton was taking into the last turn and straight. He made it look easy.

Hamilton will have the fastest car on the track tomorrow by almost a second. This comes down to whether or not Bottas can hold off Max long enough for Hamilton to race through the field. Gonna be close but I think Hamilton is gonna win it tomorrow.

That is a really tall order.

All 4 red bulls really didn't do well today, but Perez and Max should be able to hold up really well.

All comes down to the start Hamilton can get tomorrow and how fast he can clear to the leaders.

I’d love Sainz to start on hards and go long and finish strong

Looking at the 2019 GP the fastest strategy was to start on soft and finish on hards.

I figured the Mediums were the way to go.

I don’t understand why more teams don’t finish on softs. The grip at the end of the race is exponentially better than the start so I figure with the lessened fuel load, the fasts would be exponentially better

Couple of pre-race thoughts

Track and weather conditions are going to determine a 1 vs 2 stop strategy... gut feeling is most teams go with a 2 stopper... I dont see how going M-H is going to be the quickest strategy.... maybe S-M-S or M-S-S... and going S-H seems like you're trying to be a sitting duck

I think Lewis's new engine will end up a major factor here, especially considering how important the last uphill turn onto the front stretch is with this track, with regards to top end speed and it being a major passing zone

Just some ideas running round my head

Hamilton really seemed to work out how to use that DRS coming down the start/finish. Other drivers will see what he did and try to counter, but other cars looked like they were sitting still when he came by.

I'm with you. Maybe it is the cliff the softs go off when they are done. Trying to stretch them could have you losing 1-2 seconds a lap if they come up short.

The whole run up to the s/f is where his new P/U shines, compared to everybody else's used P/U... he has fresh power, they dont...

That is going to make the difference tomorrow in regards to how it goes for Merc...and that's a pretty big silver arrow in their quiver
