How do you think the old era guys would do in today’s cars? Say bring Fangio at his prime to 2021. Or Phil Hill, etc.
I'd rather flip it around and put the current guys into the old cars.
No downforce, concrete tires, sitting in a fuel tank and hay bales for a Safer barrier.
Doubt many would come close to the old guys as they've never had to have enormous balls with the threat of death hanging over them every time they strap in.

RBR is buying the IP and going to build the engines in Milton Keyes.
I knew that, but from the read earlier it sounded like Honda was committed to supporting RB Racing in ‘22

Maybe they have personnel that will hold over that long for change of control.
Haven't heard Honda has recommitted. Or maybe it was worded as they will provide the '22 engine since the engines will be under a freeze after this season and I imagine they have done all that development.

Here it is…
?The three key points of the agreement between the two companies are:
1) Red Bull Powertrains has the right to use Honda’s IP relating to the Power Unit.
2) Honda will support Red Bull Powertrains in building the 2022 PU and also provide trackside and race operation support from Japan throughout the 2022 season, and from 2023, Red Bull Powertrains will take responsibility for all manufacturing and servicing of Red Bull Racing and Scuderia AlphaTauri’s engines.
3) Employees of Honda Racing Development UK (Milton Keynes) will become employees of Red Bull Powertrains.

Ah yeah, sounds like part of the turnover. "Honda" will be done doing any development and strictly building and servicing for 22. Probably training whatever replacements are needed in the process. Then whoever is left is absorbed into RBR after next year.
I wonder how any reliability developments, if there are any, will be handled next year.

Hamilton with a 10 place penalty for replacing PU components.

Not sure why Hamilton didn’t replace everything and take the full penalty.

Keep in mind that last year they had finished resurfacing the track 10 days before the race, Mercedes reports they’re 13 seconds a lap faster this year in FP1 than last year in FP1. That’s a HUGE difference.

Agree... Seems risky.

There's been a rumor going around for a few days that Andretti has or is about to (depending on the source) buy Sauber (Alfa Romeo). They were turned down by Sauber at the end of August but now it seems like they are buying the group that owns the F1 team.

Why buy the milk when you can buy the cow

All for it. Would be awesome to have 5-7 truly competitive teams at any given time.
I really hope F1 manages their popularity the right way though. NASCAR got cute and ruined their product. F1 has shown some signs of doing the same thing.

The spending cap and engine formula freezes might be the direct contributor to these new teams looking to come in.

Very interesting that Mercedes didn't take all new components, guess they want to minimize damage, but putting Hamilton to start 11th or 12th may be a dangerous place, considering lap 1 chaos. Could be an issue risking another engine penalty if he is in a crash or there is another part failure later.

I honestly don't know, what is Turkey like in regards to passing? Lots of movement or stagnant?

Turkey has a little bit of everything...multiple overtaking zones, elevation changes, cool corners, etc.

Starting 11th has the advantage of starting on whichever tire you like.
Unless of course it is wet. Which has an outside chance of happening.
