This could be an interesting race when looking at the weather. Cold (<50) and maybe rainy (60%), but knowing our luck this year the rain will hold off or go around and the sun will come out.

Agreed. The less practice time the teams have, the spicier the race will be. Throw in the unpredictable weather and this could be a fascinating race.
ETA: There is zero chance that either Ferrari or Mercedes will supply Red Bull with engines in 2022. So it's going to be Renault or nobody.

I saw a rumor the RB was wanting to purchase the Honda IP on their PUs. Not sure if that's been proven false yet or not.

It is the rumor...but it is sounding like Honda will not give up the IP.

Mercedes just doesn't have the capacity. The McLaren deal has them already stretched to the limit. Besides why would they sell engines to their main rival?

Any manufacturer can only supply 4 teams, including themselves. So Merc is done.
Would be fun to see the 2026 rules go back to independent engine manufacturers, but the cost to enter with a competitive engine is probably too high with the budget caps now.
F1 is going to be caught between engine manufacturers that don't have a real world connection to the sport and advancing technology. Possibly looking at a standard battery unit and MGU-K/H to return the engine manufacturers to just making engines. Not sure the logistics of that though.
I think they go with Renault to bridge to whatever engine rules change in 2026. Possibly develop their own engine. Their power unit issues are the only reason they haven't been consistently competitive.
