The majors are not part of the PGA Tour.

If those majors decide to allow LIV players to compete going forward, the PGA Tour is fricked.

DJ said he talked to the masters and they told him he could play.

But they might differentiate between past champions and other qualifiers.

If they don’t let them play, they can’t call themselves majors with a straight face

While true now, we don't know how this plays out just yet for 2023. I would not be surprised if pressure mounts to exclude them from the three majors on US soil. Did you see the reporters ask Westwood if he'd join a tour started by Putin? Deer in the headlights. These guys are making bank, but I think they underestimated the forces line up to oppose them.

So all these top guys are still ranked high enough to play in majors, but going forward, will the LIV tournament count for rankings? If not, do all the LIV guys get one more time through the majors before their rankings fall off?

Not really

I asked Dustin Johnson if he’d had any conversations with Augusta leadership about whether he’ll continue to be invited to The Masters going forward. “I've definitely talked to them but you're going to have to ask somebody from the Masters. I can't comment on anything they said.”

Sure they can. The PGA is still where the most serious and best players play. The guys going to LIV have literally said out of their own mouths that they are doing it to have more time away from playing golf and to focus on other things. Does that sound like the format that will cultivate the best? Not to me it doesn't. It sounds like a celebrity golf league.

Because the PGA is best known for washed players that can't win majors anymore. Like McElroy and Spieth.

Second tier league.

Majors don't want second tier.
