They basically gave him the same deal the Wizards gave Bradley Beal

LINK

So are we now saying a potential franchise QB isn't worth a Bradley Beal?

They can suck a dick, I'd do that deal every day and twice on Sundays and if that's what it takes to win, that's what it takes to win MURICA

How is it a shite deal? It's front loaded when the niners have crazy cap space.

It's basically a 2 year deal guaranteed and then the team can easily get out of it after if need be.

There's a much better argument. Look at the W-L records of their starting quarterbacks over the past three seasons.

12 man roster, 53 man roster.

Same thing...

Ignoring the OP's logic, the 9ers did the right thing locking down Jimmy. You can't let him walk and you don't want to get into the situation that the Skins got in with Cousins. It's a risk, but one worth taking for a franchise QB.

They had to lock him down but not at that price.

Of course they would have liked to get him cheaper, but that's what it took to lock him down.

They got a potential franchise QB. They got what they needed out of this.

The tougher call is what do you do when your options are having a Cutler or Tyrod Taylor versus just saying frick it and tanking.

That’s a dumb comparison

They didn’t pay him too much but that’s still a dumb comparison

How do you know it's a shite deal?

Risky? Sure. But you cannot definitively say the deal is shite until it plays out.

If the 49ers win 2 superbowls during Jimmy G's contract, is it still a shite deal?

if this is true then it's not nearly as bad as people make it out to be

if you have space to front load contracts in the NFL it's like cap magic. you can sign your young guys and stay way ahead

It’s a perfectly fine contract...especially given their cap situation but the comparison to an NBA contract is absolutely terrible
