Agreed. PSU was a blue blood in the 70’s and 80’s..

Penn State has been better than Texas in the 70’s, 80, 90’s, 2010’s, and about equal for the 2020’s. Texas was better in the 2000’s.

That don't mean shite. It's about sustained superior performance over decades. Ohio State, Texas, and Notre Dame are all Top 5 all-time in wins. Penn State is just outside their ranks at #7. Only one other team behind the Nittany Lions has more than 900 wins and that is Nebraska.

What year are you using as the criterion for this?

Food for thought to those that say the playoffs aren't working.
Of all the dumb posts so far this bowl season, this has got to be near the top if not the dumbest post of the season.

Dumbest sports word in existence. Means nothing, apparently exists only as a word to start arguments and pretend that historically successful programs are still somehow better than others.

…think you may need to redefine blue blood.
Think you may need to think about the fact that only 1 B1G team went to a bowl (The Rose Bowl) until 1975.

OP said Bluebloods, not Nouveau riche.
What weight does the last 25 years have to do with it?

Outside of Clemson's titles I would argue a blue blood has won every single CFP so far.

Texas is in no way a blue blood

They are tied for fifth all-time in wins, seventh all-time in winning percentage, have 31 conference championships, the third most bowl appearances of any team in the FBS, and four national championships.
While it's true they are a little short when it comes to national titles, most teams in the Poll Era are in the same boat and only a relatively small number of programs have more than them:
- Alabama
- Notre Dame
- Oklahoma
- Southern Cal
- Ohio State
- Miami
- Nebraska

I’ll repeat it. Texas is in no way a blue blood.

What constitutes a blue blood? I would argue against calling Texas a blue blood if we are saying Penn State isn’t.
Teams that have been nationally competitive for basically the last 100 years. These same 8 teams dominate each of these lists and most of them aren't that close
You can fall out of blue blood status (ie. Tennessee, and Nebraska is pushing it) but it can't be joined

History says otherwise I fear. There are a set number of blue bloods that have made their presence known throughout the decades and they are as follows:
- Alabama
- Notre Dame
- Oklahoma
- Texas
- Ohio State
- Michigan
- Southern Cal
- Nebraska
- Penn State
These are the schools that have won at a high level for a consistent amount of time and schools that people tune into watch in their millions when they play.

More of a blue blood than Auburn or Miami or Florida state.
