Choke job by the Cavs.

So basically he blocks a shot or gives up a bucket at the rim. Looks like he gives up way more buckets than blocks shots.

Don't want to link to any of the actual rim protection stats?

5 blocks tonight. Dominated the paint on offense and defense.

That ending was epic because Pacers clutch performing, not Cleveland choking. Pacers deserve the headline here.

Ignoring the part where the Cavs turned into Northern Iowa inbounding the ball, sure.

I won’t disagree but all they had to do was inbound the ball on the offensive end just once.

Blistering 47% from the field.

That is supposed to be bad for a center that shoots all over? 8-17, 2-5 from 3 pointer. Not bad at all. This was about his defense though which was great as usual.

Then why bring up his offense? And congrats to you, ya boy had 5 blocks against a team down 3 main guys.

Two birds, one response:

The hustle from Indiana was more apparent than any choke, lackadaisicalness from the Cavs. Because of that, an epic ending.

Full disclosure, I am a bitter SuperSonics fan, so wish the NBA the very worst. The last two nights have been delicious, despite the stench of Stern still festering upon the association.

You won't find anything that says he is a bad defender as you originally said. In fact everything I see says he is easily a top 10 center on defense . I'm not even a fan of him but know enough about basketball to see he is a very good defender. If you can find something that shows he isn't than please post it.

I originally asked for stats, I just didn't think he was the best defender in the NBA as you originally said.
I don't think he is as good a defender as you or the stats say. Sure he can roam around and leave his man to get some blocks.

Barry McCockiner on twitter hasn't been funny for a while, but his post after game 1 is starting to look clairvoyant:

I said he is a top 5 rim protector. I stand by that until you can prove me otherwise. Stats are in my favor so is it just your opinion and nothing more?

"Over the last five NBA seasons (between May 4, 2020, and May 4, 2025), Myles Turner has recorded the most blocks, with a total of 717. He's consistently been one of the league's top blockers, leading in blocks per game twice in the past seven years and consistently ranking in the top 5 in total blocks."

Pacers deserve credit, but in the final 47 seconds, the Cavs did the following:

-- failed to defensive rebound a missed free throw, leading to a Nesmith dunk
--committed an offensive foul (Mitchell)
--failed to defensive rebound a block by Allen, leading to a Siakam layup
--turned it over (Strus bad pass)
--failed to get the defensive rebound on Haliburton's missed FT with 9 seconds left.

It's a shame that they probably pissed away their whole season in under 1 minute of play

Yeah he gets blocks, do all of those occur at the rim?

Maybe? Why does that matter? It's even more impressive if he gets them all over the court isn't it?

Not for him, he's just that good.

credit to the Pacers - they battled for 48 minutes and made play after play again tonight.

that said, Cavs led by as many as 20 points in both halves tonight … had a 14 point lead entering the 4th … had a 7 point lead with less than a minute to go …

fricking brutal, even by Cleveland standards

“No lead is safe” is not just a cliche…I actually get nervous when my team goes up 20 now…it means our odds of winning probably just took a hit***
