I know, I'm just stirring the pot. But, there are a few fools over on Talk Tennis board that are pounding the idea that a guy cannot be the GOAT if he doesn't have a winning record against his biggest rivals.

Roddick is a nobody? If it wasn't for fed he would have about 6-7 grand slam titles. For a while Fed was the only person on the planet who could stop Andy at Wimbledon
Roddick lost 3 Wimbledon and a U.S. Open to Fed. He was never winning 6-7

He also lost to Fed in the QF and SF of a couple slams... Without Federer, Roddick wins 6-8.

Djokovic is beating a Federer who is 34. He's going to end up with the better head to head because of these wins late in Fed's career. Fed got Nole his fair share of times. He beat Novak in 2011 at Roland Garros, which was Novak's best season. Got him at Wimbledon in 2012. They've both won twice a piece in their primes at the U.S. Open.

I feel like Federer has hurt his resume the last three years, according to some posters. He's given a lot of wins to his rivals. If he had just retired, his head-to-head records would be better and he would still have the same amount of majors.

If people can't realize how amazing Fed has been in his 30s they are just pure retards that should lose their right to vote.

Which his ridiculous. His longevity and age should be celebrated, not admonished. He's playing far better than Sampras or Agassi at this age. Playing the best ever for his age, to be honest

I don't even kow how to respond to this
The dude is playing elite tennis at 33. He just played like shite today against the best player in the world

Was Pistol Pete even playing at 33?
Agassi won Aussie at 32 IIRC.

I was pointing out what posters were doing. I don't agree with it. It's like penalizing LeBron for losing in the Finals.

Was anyone at Federer's age ranked no.2 in the world?
Posted on 7/12/15 at 1:26 pm to QuackAttack716
No they were ranked number 1
Andre Agassi was ranked 1 at age 33
But to be fair ATP didn't rank players until 73. So Laver may have been also.

Damn that's pretty legit. I've been watching tennis since 99-00 but it completely slipped my mind that Agassi was ranked no.1 at that age. I was only 10 years old then but I remember Hewitt, Roddick, Pat Rafter, and Marat Safin being the big guns with a Goran Ivanesevic Wimbledon victory splashed in and Gustavo Kuerten winning RG, moreso than I do Agassi as a no.1

Pete's ranking tanked in his final years, didn't it? Won the 02 U.S. open, but not as a top 10 player, from what I remember

Sampras and Agassi both won one last grand slam. Doesn't look like Fed will be able to.

It slipped once he got married to Bridget and stopped playing the events other than GS
Now that's how I remember it, he played the big events only.
I'm sure Bobby Ray or Bunk will correct me

Agassi did have the luxury of taking two years off to do blow, meth, and celebrities. Prolly helped save his legs for a little later

A lot of people considered that 2012 Wimbledon.
