I'm tired of guys like Bottas who show a lot of promise and get promoted, then it turns out they are in fact a tier-2 driver.

OK I could be wrong about that. Bottas might be a tier-1 driver now.

Haha, I will say I have that same feeling about Bottas. I was jacked when he got the seat at Merc, then laid two eggs.

From F1 twitter:

first podium for Honda since the 2008 British Grand Prix!

I'm stoked for Red Bull Honda. They keep claiming they have the best car on the grid, and it looks like that might be true. Their partnership with Honda looks a lot better than being a Renault customer.

Kneejerk reactions for the next two weeks.

Ferrari is done.
Merc will dust everyone.
All Renults catch fire.
Max won the WDC already.

As Hamilton grows older, I think he wants to be the anti-Alonso. He's being super diplomatic and allowing Bottas to soak in the glory of a dominant win.

Alonso would have been complaining bitterly about the pace of the car.

I fell asleep watching the race. Only made it 3 laps. Sad, I know.

Probably watch the race later. Hope this isn’t a sign of things to come for Ferrari. Also good for Haas and not a terrible finish for Kimi. I really want Alfa to take best of the rest.

Bottas. Awesome hope he keeps that up really do. Lost in his domination was a great start, totally crushed Lewis off the line.

Gro got screwed.

Tough luck for Ric couldn’t have expected that just barely in the grass. Plus they do not look that strong.

Verstappen wins Monoco. Wonder what the future odds are on that.

How the hell does Zak Brown still have a job?

can't believe how close Vettel and Leclerc were to disaster in the first corner. Not giving fault here but Leclerc used as much grass as possible until he had to nudge the car back on track and hope for the best. They were about 6 inches away from a new wing + sliced rear tire combo.

Leclerc should have backed off. That was Vettel's spot. Looks like they did touch, nothing happened as a result.

Bottas was pretty solid last year. He had some bad luck earlier in the season that prevented him from being in the mix for drivers championship.

With better reliability he'd have won a few races last year.

So I haven't finished the Netflix series yet. Has anyone figured out why Ricciardo went to Renault?

Did he even get offers/interest from merc and Ferrari?

Because he didn't want to be a 2nd driver. Which is what RB was going to turn him into.

Supposedly, he did. They passed on him, but I don't think because of his skill, just because of their other options.

I think he made the right choice. Maybe not this year, but in the next 3 years.

F1 star Daniel Ricciardo's move to French team Renault raised eyebrows in the off-season, but his new salary has turned heads in a sport not shy about its stratospheric star driver contracts.

The 29-year-old signed a deal worth $49 million a year, according to a report in UK tabloid The Daily Mirror, which would be a significant increase on his previous salary, however Renault has not confirmed the figure it is paying the Australian.

Ferrari may have serious PU issues,
I hope Merc is bored with F1 and leaves to go all in Formula E
F1.5, ala the midfield battle will be much more enjoyable than watching Merc, Scuderia and Bulls
Williams is just embarrassing
