This is like the 10th thread complaining about Wiskys ranking.

Who gives where anybody is ranked outside the top 4?

Because those rankings impact the top 4 dramatically.

Explain how Baylor is expected to make the playoffs if they win and Wisconsin is not. 2 weeks ago Wisconsin was ranked ahead of Baylor. Since that time Baylor beat Texas and Kansas. Wisconsin beat #8 Minnesota on the road and Purdue. Opponents win totals and rankings in comparison favor UW in the last 2 weeks. Then we look at the whole resume. Baylor has one ranked win vs #25 Ok St. Wisconsin has ranked wins vs Minnesota, Michigan, Iowa. If it works out where Baylor and Wisconsin are competing for #4 Saturday night ... Badgers will have the upset of the season and will have an argument to jump Baylor with a stronger resume. Yes I know, Illinois. That stupid game stings.

Umm, because Baylor winning doesn't screw around with the top 3. Wisconsin winning doesn't kick out Ohio State in all likelihood. Neither does UGA winning.

Wisconsin doesn't have a prayer unless Clemson loses.

You may not like this, but the committee looks at a lot of things, here is a short summary of why Wisconsin might be higher than Florida in their eyes.

Florida beat #11 Auburn, 24-13, lost at #2 LSU, 28-42, and to #4 Georgia, 17-24, so they are 1-2 (.333) against ranked teams, played 2 FCS teams, which is a negative, and beat 3 teams with a winning record.

Wisconsin beat #14 Michigan, 35-14, #16 Iowa, 24-22, and at #18 Minnesota, 38-17, lost at #1 Ohio State, 7-38, at unranked 6-6 Illinois, 23-24, so they are 3-1 (.750) against ranked teams, played no FCS teams, which is a positive, beat 4 teams with a winning record.

Overall Wisconsin’s resume comes out ahead on those facts. But the committee looks at far more.

The committee uses the SportSource Analytics Rankings Tool to compare teams, which you can do at https://sportsourceanalytics.com/rankingtool/

I started a thread that shows how you can play around and look at different things with that tool at:

Florida played two FCS teams. That hurts them.

If this is how it’s going to be, there is no reason for the CFP to give weekly rankings at all.

Just get together after the Conference Championship Games and decide on the 4 that make the playoffs.

Of course, that would take away weeks of idiot talking points form the MSM.

So it seems losing to Illinois doesn’t matter?

They should do two, one this week, and the final rankings next week.

Let people know where they stand before the CCGs.

They had to play OSU that isn’t their fault. Just unlucky to have to play the one good team.

You answered your own question at the end. A one-loss conference champ versus a two-loss conference champ. I think that Wisconsin would beat Baylor, but there has never been a 2-loss playoff team. A two-loss conference champ Penn State was beaten out by a one-loss OSU that lost the head-to-head. The Illinois loss was the eliminator.

If Wisconsin keeps it close they might even move UP.

They'd certainly move ahead of the Oklahoma/Baylor loser. Ahead of UGA when UGA loses. Ahead of Utah if they lose.

Wisconsin can probably make it up to 6 just by showing some heart and giving Ohio State a good game.

The only reason I'm even remotely with you on this is because the committee has done stupid shite like this before. I could easily see them dropping enough teams below Wisky that it actually moves Wisky up.

Hell, Georgia, Utah, Baylor, and Wisky could all lose, and the rankings would probably be:

1. OSU
2. LSU
3. Clemson
4. Oklahoma
5. WISKY
6. Georgia
7. Oregon
8. Utah
9. Florida
10. Penn State

Simply to keep LSU from having more Top 10 wins than Ohio State. Obviously this is sarcasm, but given what the committee has said and done so far, there's very little logic involved.

Those final rankings have always been insane with what the committee does. And the way this season has been, I could see this being the most insane year yet.

Wisconsin almost certainly won’t drop lower than 8th if they lose
