Yeah amazing what you can do with the amount of talent they had. The best athletes that they could recruit.

Multipliers have never worked. You end up hurting more schools than you help.

Fact and the proposed multipliers would have certainly hurt way more than they would have helped

Over small group Bible study at the Booty’s right?
That's part of it. Or at least the narrative from them. Supposedly, it had more to do with Dennis Dunn "allegedly" fooling around with the student. The family had him on tape admitting to it, but the stepdad was a huge supporter of the program. And he convinced momma to burn the tapes and just wanted to know about Evangel having a shot to bring home another national championship that upcoming season. Coach Dunn and everyone involved with the church denied, denied, denied and convinced mama not to go to cops. Although they were called during a meeting between family and administrators of church and program due to sister of Lolita fainting or some shite. You can hear Dunn in background begging for no police. Anyways, Dunn took a year Hiatus where Johnny Booty, John David, and the freight train Jacob Hester led Evangel to another state title victory over poor little west Monroe. Allegedly, Booty ( and others) didn't approve of how situation was handled. Wins state, Dunn is reinstated as head coach. And while the Booty’s stuck around another year in 2002 and beat West Monroe again for championship, In 2003 Evangel and JD Booty and Hester were signed to play De la Salle in the first nationally televised hs football game on espn. Unfortunately, things soured beyond repair and JD Booty became the first hs player ever to leave hs a year early to enroll in college at USC. Where he damn near beat out Matt Leinart for starting job if not for back injury, and did beat out Matt Cassel for backup job. Look it up. Rest is history. Coincidentally, Brent Rawls, who preceded JD Booty as QB from Evangel went to OU in 2001 but couldn't keep his nose clean. Bob Stoops has said that if Rawls could've stayed out of trouble, nobody would have ever even heard of Jason White. Many people forget that Evangel was the football factory and set the record forD1 signers for years. The list of freaks that came out of there is incredible. But, like I said, some things have changed. Mainly being that with Calvary in the mix now it's like Evangel and Calvary lining up and picking teams alternately. Ok, you go first. I got Greedy Williams. Ok, I'll go with Jerry Tillery...you get my point. Split squad

Explain how Byrd, Parkway, and Airline got good

Ok but here is the alternative, split the playoffs and de-value state titles across all classes
To me
damage from multipliers < Split Playoffs
ETA at this point we should just put the whole thing back together and move on. The attendance zones and enrollment factors from 12 years ago don’t really exist any more

I was the radio voice of Evangel Christian football the year they won the Class 1A title over St. John Plaquemine.
I think it was around 2005-2007.
I drove all the way from Rayville each week. Rockin Rick Keller was the color commentator.
Gas was cheaper then, and I had a Honda Civic.

2006. The state championships were held at Independence stadium in 2005 due to Katrina. Evangel won that one too.

Right. Good times.
I covered that one for Pelican Preps. I was in Rayville that year, too.

That very well may be true. At the time however, ESPN was touting it as the first nationally televised high school football game. Perhaps between nationally ranked/recognized schools. I believe Evangel was ranked 1 before Booty left for USC. And they had both won "national championships recently around that time. Personally, I think Evangel wins with Booty at QB. Even Hester couldn't get it done by himself with De La Salle knowing he was getting the ball every time.

Define good. With 34 classifications now, I think only Parkway has made it to the dome and they we're blown out.
