The Walt Disney Company today forced a channel blackout on DISH TV and SLING TV, affecting favorites such as ESPN, FX, Disney Channel, Freeform and National Geographic, as well as ABC locals in eight markets. The media conglomerate declined DISH's offer for a contract extension, walked away from the negotiation table and refused to keep its programming accessible for millions of DISH and SLING customers across the United States. The removal of these channels will also have an oversized impact on rural consumers who rely on satellite television as a primary means of entertainment.

We're going to be forced to listen on the radio again because these companies are going to want outrageous amounts of money to have these channels.

I'd rather listen on the radio personally anyway

This is why the B1G moving to all OTA channels for their next deal was such a good move

All their big games will not be behind a paywall for almost all the US population.

The SEC is now stuck

Thank god I canceled my sling yesterday.

Granted I was just gonna use a new email to get the half off again but I hadn’t done it yet.

It would be great to see the conferences snatch control of CFB away from Disney.

Nothing good has happened to the sport since Disney ate ESPN. It only got more expensive as a product and harder for providers to carry.

Dish will fold like always because they will lose customers and then when they raise prices to satisfy the Disney asking price everyone will be pissed at dish.

Yep. Reminds me of the YouTube TV stuff from a year or so ago. It all works out as they fold with enough public backlash

I don’t get how these cable companies think they’re going to bluff against Disney/ESPN. If you don’t have ESPN you’re worthless.

I guess Dish and Sling got tired of watching Aaron Judge as well.

I worked at DISH 8 years. It’s the worst company I’ve ever worked for. So cheap on everything

Charlie will walk away from a deal if they are one penny above what he wants

Their stock is at the lowest point since 1994.
