Joe knew. They all knew and either tried to cover it up or ignore it. They all allowed a Homosexual Child Molester to roam around for decades and rape kids using Penn State football facilities. They never took Sandusky access away. It’s amazing to me how Penn State is allowed to still have a football program. Joe Paterno was a fraud. A total piece of shite who looked the other way about Child Rape to protect his football program and legacy. I hope Paterno is burning in hell. Multiple people told Paterno about Sandusky.

You have proof of this? because unless you have actual evidence of this outside of what is publicly available you need to stop talking

He won several awards as an assistant coach over the years but never sniffed a head coaching job. Why do you think that is? There were rumors about Sandusky for a long while.
Speculation and conjecture, many people under legendary head coaches were longtime assistants back in those days, it wasn’t the mercenary coaching racket it is today. Just letting your imagination run away with you.

But there could be some fire. As far back as 1976 there were allegations and whispers about Sandusky. I believe there was a situation with an insurance claim due to an allegation of sexual assault pertaining to Sandusky that at the time were dismissed due to lack of evidence and was deemed to be somewhat bogus.
Personally, I think that Paterno being Old School probably could not fathom that something like this would be happening . He had run what many had deemed a clean program. In the 1970s the world was different as it pertained to college football. A lot of schools swept stuff under the rug....I know LSU did as did Schools like Oklahoma, Alabama, So. Cal etc..
But even into the 80s there were whispers about Sandusky....he was too involved with kids in his off time and it did concern others nearer the program and so much so that Paterno had told Sandusky that he thought the Second Mile Foundation was taking up too much time and was becoming a distraction.

Nothing in this article actually points to that, in fact t kinda does the opposite.

Why is this some gotcha?
Explain why John Chavis, who also won awards, never became a head coach?
Why did Dick Lebeau be an assistant for 27 years before taking a head coaching position, which he failed at and only lasted 2 years before he went back to being a DC for another 20 years?
Venables had been an assistant for over 20 years before finally taking the HC at Oklahoma
Some guys don’t really want to be the head coach.
Look at Burrows dad. Not that he’s at a big school, but he was one of the longest tenured assistant coaches in the country before he retired.
And this article and piece of shite Hodne had nothing to do with Sandusky, and very little to do with Paterno.

One of his roommates testified against him in court and was immediately kicked off the football team. I imagine Joe is getting pineapples shoved up his rectum on a day to day basis

He testified for him dumbass. Is your reading comprehension that bad?
quote:
Capozzoli recalls that Paterno didn't mince words. "So right off the bat, he says, 'Todd Hodne is guilty, and if you testify for him, you're off the team,'" Capozzoli says. "So I said, 'Look, Joe'—I laughed at him. I said, 'The guy's got a million girlfriends. Maybe he dumped her and she got mad.' I said, 'I'm just going to tell the truth.' I never took what he said to heart. I testified and went home for a few days, and when I get back, my room key doesn't work. All my s--- is gone; somebody moved it. I've been moved down to this place we called the barracks, in the basement of the gym. He goes, 'You still have your scholarship; you can go to school. But you're off the team.' Isn't that, like, jury tampering? Isn't that a criminal act? But there's no recourse. What are you gonna do?"
So once again, this player goes and testifies in support of someone everyone knew was guilty, gets kicked off after being told not to, and the article tries to paint HIM as a victim. What a disingenuous load of shite.

Legal system sucked. But I fail to see the “evils of Paterno” in that article
He kicked the dude off the team, and even told other players if they testify for the rapist they will be kicked off the team
The article should have dug into the background of the POS judge who let him go home to await his sentencing.
How does that happen?!?!?

Let me correct this for you since i actually read the article.
One of Hodne's long time friends from his hometown, Capazolli, testified as a character witness for him.
He claims he was told by Paterno before the trial that Paterno knew he was guilty and that if he went up there and testified for him that he'd be kicked off the team. Hodne's friend said he told Paterno he didnt' believe Hodne did it, and that he would simply tell the truth.
He was kicked off the team some time after the trial, and an assistant coach who was interviewed for this article said he remembered this guy and that he sucked at football and was always in trouble (with the law b/c he stole shite with Hodne and got caught while Hodne ran from the cops), and he was just using this as an excuse.
Considering this guy hung out with Hodne so much and didn't believe he did all of this, and is a criminal himself, i wouldn't tend to believe everything that comes out of his mouth.

Everyone understands that possibility but it becomes suspicious when it turns out that the coach in question was a serial pedophile operating in what was apparently plain sight.
Sandusky was the ultimate in selling your soul to win football games because he was just that great. PSU was defined as linebacker U. And they were linebacker U because of Sandusky

I think a reasonable person should look at the public history and be extremely suspicious that Paterno knew.
It is an ugly history.

I'm guessing because everyone who had anything to do with it are either dead, in prison or no longer employed by the university

Wow want to meet at Sonic. I glanced over that part. Kind of got tired of reading 25 pages of 44 year old accounts of rape written by a 3rd party. I only assumed he was kicked off for testifying against him

What about social services which let Sandusky adopt children? What about the police? What about the people Sandusky worked with at Second Mile? What about Sandusky’s wife who believes to this day that he’s innocent? For what you’re alleging to actually be the case without evidence is basically an impossibility because it would’ve gotten out at some point before 2011.

you would think that if you simply glanced over it, you wouldn't remember it enough to come here and make a post about it, which ended up being completely inaccurate, but you just wanted to shite on Paterno.
and i'm not white knighting for Paterno at all, it's just dumb how much this article, and how this thread isnt' focusing on what's really scary here, and it's that a lawyer and judge helped this monster stay out of jail after being convicted of rape and he went on to rape a bunch more women right after it, then after only serving 7 years in jail for brutally raping over a dozen women, he gets out on parole and goes on raping more women, and ultimately murders a man.

What about arguments are not arguments really. That's just attempting to change the subject
I don't think reasonable people hold Paterno solely responsible. He didn't commit the crimes or put together the children's charity that was apparently a cover for a pedophile ring.

They go to the argument that Sandusky fooled everybody into believing he was this saint until shite hit the fan in 2011 and Paterno was no exception yet he gets the bulk of the blame from the media. No one gets the benefit of the doubt when an entire community was fooled by that scumbag.

So you skimmed over it, read something incorrectly, and decided to post. Then when you get called on being wrong, you get pissy and say the article was long

You think that's bad, look at the third post ITT. Guy claims Paterno was letting his players go around killing people.
