Yeah, and Secretariat came in at #37.

I wonder if Ted Williams's bat or Dale Earnhart's car would have been higher.

Why, because he was good at football and baseball? Herschel was good at football (better than bo, actually), was an olympic bobsledder, is a 7th degree black belt, and is unbeaten in his MMA career.

Herschel lacked the wow factor that Bo brought. Sorry. Herschel was great, but doesn't pass the eye test for greatest athlete of all time.

Bo does. Everything that guy did was incredible. For a period of about 2 or 3 years, Bo was the most amazing thing happening in sports, period.

It's fricking Jim Thorpe. How is this even a debate?

This.

Also, I stopped following it when they had Roger Federer as the top tennis athlete of all-time. WTF?

Bo does.

I think what you meant to say is Bo had a better marketing campaign. Whereas Bo was doing TV spots and had a slogan, Herschel barely ever spoke and didn't want the limelight.

Everything that guy did was incredible.

You can say the same thing about Herschel. And still say it to this day. This is Herschel now

this is bo

Herschel still does a training regimen comparable to that of a Navy SEAL...just for the hell of it! He has succeeded at everything he's ever done.

What does Bo's physique now have to do with anything? Don't get me wrong. It's amazing the shape Herchel is in still, but it's not really relevant.

Someone said everything Bo did was incredible. Well yeah, that maybe true..but my point was Herschel is STILL being incredible to this day.

lso, Lebron James is not even in the competition, which just adds to how terrible this debate is.

he lost to jordan for basketball

I get what they are doing, but who can compete with a basketball or football player in all around athleticism

No way Lebron is the greatest athlete. He's one of the greatest athletes in a tall sport, which is different, but there are shorter guys in the NBA now who are better athletes than him. A 6'8" doesn't have quickness to be the greatest athlete of all time.

The greatest athlete today may be an NFL corner, maybe Revis before he got hurt.
