Agreed on both points.

I just don't want FSU and OSU to both lose... it would be nauseating to see Bama back-door their way in again.

IF Ohio St gets left out, they have only their constant way of scheduling non conference to blame. There conference, while surely better that the Big 12, is still no where near as strong as the PAC or SEC. Not taking anything away form Ohio State. They are finding ways to win. (However the escape with Michigan was an eye opener).

And you deserve no more says. Texas (X2), USC, Miami, VT, Oklahoma, Oregon all either played in the past 8 years, or to be played in the next 8 years. They had agreements in place with Tenn and UGA but had to back out because of a Pac 12/B1G agreement that fell through and the conference schedule expanding.

OSU schedules games WELL in advance with teams that are good at the time scheduled. Cal was a top 25 program when those games were scheduled, and they haven't been god awful except for the last couple

You wouldn't hear the schedule argument had tOSU ran through their schedule like FSU did. I do think if they get past MSU, they deserve a shot at the title

This notion that Ohio St doesnt schedule anybody non conference is another myth that i just dont get. If anything Ohio St schedules more big time non conference games since 2000 then anybody. Texas(2x), USC(2x), Miami(3x), NC State(Phillip Rivers), Washington St(went to the Rose Bowl) and have scheduled upcoming games against Virginia Tech, Oklahoma, Oregon, North Carolina and Cincinnati in the next few years. We cant help that Cal sucked balls this year, when we scheduled them they had Aaron Rogers, Marshawn Lynch ect ect.

Precisely yes. And Florida State's strength of schedule is worse than Ohio State's.

I know what you're saying, but are you saying it because it's Bama? It's not like they wouldn't deserve it under that circumstance.

Yep but when the average score to your games is 53-11, people tend to overlook the strength of schedule factor.

Ohio State played a Boise level schedule this year. If they get in it's on name only. Auburn is clearly better than them.

Well, yeah.

Although I think Oklahoma State would have an argument.

Again, Florida St's schedule is worse. This excuse is wearing thin in a hurry!

It's not worth getting riled up over these Johnny Rebels, these people have no control over who goes.

If Ohio State wins, they will go.

(unless people legitimately leave Ohio State off their Harris Poll ballot which would be epically unbelievable )

Yup.

If they lose, the SEC champ goes.

I hate this argument, because yes we can help it.

ETA:

Cal isn't some perennial powerhouse.

Its exactly like scheduling TCU. They are not going to be as good as when we scheduled them.

Personally, I want Ohio State to schedule one in-state opponent and 3 automatic qualifying conference teams a year. I have no problem playing the Cal, Colorado, Vanderbilt, Iowa States of the world, if we mix in a few great games like vs Va Tech, USC, Oregon, Oklahoma, Texas etc. and then don't play any 1-AA schools, or non-Ohio non-AQ schools.

We would have a very solid schedule every year if we did that, and it wouldn't be overwhelming (until the B1G got good again).

And with the 4 teams making the title games, strength of schedule will matter more IMO.
