Wanna guess the race of 99% of DBs?
Cooper doesn't go over the middle for that many passes. And when he does, Vick rarely puts in on the money. Even when he catches a pass over the middle, the DBs aren't going to hit him "extra hard"
If they go for a cheap shot, they are losing money themselves, which they obviously don't want.

You're underestimating the amount of extracurricular hitting that goes on in an NFL game. You don't think some defensive player will try to light him up while Riley's trying to run block?

I think you are mistaken by how much is going on a football game. These guys are here to win, and I find it hard to fathom that once the lights come on they are focused on anything other than making a play.
Sure, some thug like Dunta Robinson may lay a cheap shot, but is costing himself by doing that
