Eagles made a trade offer for Melvin Gordon

Did a little digging around on the Melvin Gordon trade market. To give you an idea of where it is, only offer I came across was from Philly. In that deal, Jordan Howard would go to LA, the teams would swap mid-round picks, and the Chargers would eat salary. LA obviously said no.

There just hasn’t been much action on Gordon. And that’s not bc he can’t play. It’s bc there aren’t teams willing to fork over draft capital and the kind of $$$ Gordon wants. You could deal for him as a 1-year rental. But (as the Philly offer shows) that lessens his trade value.

So the Eagles have to be the only team with more running backs than receivers on the roster right?
Anybody got the odds for them using the flexbone or wishbone this season?

So it looks like nothing is the best offer right now. Can someone beat nothing

So the only team attempting to trade for a top 5-10 all around RB is a team with a committee of a trillion backs including a proven early down horse in Howard and a early draft pick with high potential in Sanders
This is funny

Eagles get trade declined for Melvin Gordon*

Eagles would view it as a one year rental. Would have been a steal for them

His problem is he wants to get paid like a top 5 back when he’s not even a consensus top 10 guy - not to mention the injury issues.

Melvin Gordon is a top 5 back. What are you talking about? He’s definitely in that conversation. Kamara, Barkley, Zeke, Bell, Gurley, McCafferey. He’s in that group

He’s averaged more than 4 ypc once, ran for 1000 yards once, and played 16 games once. His production is nowhere near a top 5 back.

Bell, Gurley, Zeke, Barkley, and CMac are all definitely better than him. Then you have Kamara, Hunt, Lindsay, Conner, Ingram, Mixon, Johnson, and Freeman all in that discussion as well. 5 are definitely better, 8 more can say they are. And that’s with me leaving off Chubb, Michel, Carson, Mack, and Cook who I don’t think are better than him yet, but aren’t far off.

If all of this hold-out nonsense was Gordon's idea, then fine.
If this is something his agent cooked up, then said agent needs a swift kick in the arse.
I am glad the Chargers finally took a stand and said "You may be pretty good, but our team can and will survive without you and we are prepared to do just that"

Ha, oh - I get it.

Gordon isn’t an elite back in a league where even elite backs are falling out of favor

Yea I noticed that too.
I wouldn't put Gurley in the top five at this point. His knee looks like it might be a career ender in the near future and he already looks to be slowing down.
I am a huge Barkley fan, but I would wait to see him put in a couple of years before putting him solidly in the top five. The talent is definitely there though. I am not sure I personally see 5 backs that are better at this point, but again, personally I would like to see him build on a great rookie season before putting him squarely in the top 5.
We have to see how Bell looks after a year off, but before he took an extended vacation, I would have put him in the top 5 easy. Still probably would, but can understand why someone would leave him out.
If you have C-Mac in your top 5 then Kamara is right there with him. Homer fan will bump their running back over the other, but I haven't seen one do anything that the other can't do.

Gurley has put up 40 tds and 3,900 TYFS the last 2 seasons and you wouldn’t put him in the top 5 at this point?
Please tell me 5 backs better than him. I’ll wait for this damn list.
And for those questioning CMac over Kamara, here’s the list of NFL running backs with over 100 receptions in a season:
Tomlinson
Forte
McCaffrey
That’s it.
There’s no big difference between the two, but CMac is the slightly better back right now.
Barkley is a big time boom or bust kind of runner. Nearly 40% of his carries went either for 0 yards or less or 10 yards or more. Hell 10 of his carries accounted for 40% of his rushing yards. That said, Eli’s his quarterback and he still averaged 127 scrimmage yards and a td per game.
Zeke is probably the best pure running back in the league - meaning if you completely ignore every running backs contributing in the passing game both as a receiver and blocker, he’d be the best. Having said that, he is finally contributing in a big way to to the passing game. He eats up yards.
Bell is the biggest question mark on that list, but the last we saw from him, he averaged 130 scrimmage yards a game - which is actually his career average. By comparison, Gordon’s career best was in ‘18 and he had 119.
