What about Lloyd Carr for Michigan? I know he officially retired but I can't remember the exact details. Wasn't it kind of like a "its time for you to retire" from Michigan or was he really ready to retire?

It was the AD allowing him to bow out gracefully after the loss to App State. They actually had a pretty decent year that season.

People need to stop throwing mediocre coaches (or coaches who were mediocre at the end of their career) at historically top ten programs.

Did you watch Michigan during the Rich Rod era?

Pretty sure the thread is dumbest fires, not hires.

It was the loss after Appy St that basically got Carr fired.
That team had Hart, Crable, Henne, and Long. No way they should've been 0-2. If I remember that team beat UF at Gator Bowl also.

Part of what made firing Lloyd Carr so dumb was the fact that they replaced him with someone who not only underperformed, but clashed with the culture that program had established. Carr should have been able to pick his successor, hold him under his wing for at least a year and up to three years and then let him take over a la Belloti with Chip.

As far as Leach they had just cause on three things to fire him.
lol wut?
name them please.
you do realize Adam James admitted in open court that he flat out lied about everything don't you?

I believe he said one thing and his dad took it from there. He was frustrated about one little thing, made the mistake of telling his dad while he was killing 5 hookers and then it went from there.
And by there, I mean SMU, where 5 hookers were killed by Craig James.

Let's start with job searches without telling AD
Overstepping scope of authority
Suing your current employer
I'll start with those which if you read the filings are enough to be dismissed

kind of shitty, not a big deal really

How? by refusing to apologize to a kid that was a liar?

Suing your current employer
He didn't sue them until after he was fired.

No because he told licensed ATC where and how to give treatment to players. That's negligence.

Wrong he attempted to file an injunction to prevent the suspension. Which was reason given as dismissal. He was suspended first then fired after he filed the injunction, with just cause.

with who?
again, you realize that Adam James has admitted he was lying the entire time don't you?

an injunction is not a lawsuit
and one of the main reasons given was b/c he refused to apologize to a kid that was LYING.
I'm sorry but Tech was wrong from the get go with Leach. They used James as cover to fire him. It was total horseshite.

No there was more than James.
An injunction is a suit as it you can not sue or bring legal action against your employer.
He was suspended the suspension would've been lifted if he apologized.
They were going to fire him at end of the year. But the injunction forced their hand. Myers had enough of him job shopping and he had signed contract that stated he had to do certain things.
If he doesn't file that injunction he gets his money. Plus he doesn't look like a total idiot just a semi idiot.
To me the most telling thing was nobody came to his support and the ATC never denied that Leach overstepped. The ATC was in line to lose certification.

THE KID WAS LYING THE ENTIRE TIME.
Why the frick should he have gotten an apology? Tech never even asked the coaching staff about their side of the events. They were completely in the wrong. They never gave a shite about finding out what happened.
Posted on 9/21/13 at 11:27 pm to Dr RC
Leach did it to himself. Tech made sure they had all things covered. Leach isn't a god send I mean Spike Dykes had them where Leach had them, if you really want to be honest.
