DraftKings is refunding all ML straight bets on Penn State after the controversial OT call on the Indiana two-point conversion.

The company says that bets will be refunded in the form of site credits within 24 hours.

I get that it's a minor thing to them overall and bettors only get credits in return, but that's weak.

They said he got in, reviewed it and the play stood. Where's the controversy there?

They do this for advertising, not justice. Them refunding the bets is making big headlines.

Teams lose games on iffy or flat out bad calls all the time, so I don't see what's so different here.

it's just an easy marketing/sales attempt in a ridiculously competitive field. i know you understand that, but i wouldnt attempt to rationalize it outside of that, because we wont be able to

They probably realized they will get a million dollars worth of free publicity and advertising for doing this stunt while only giving out $10,000 worth of credit.

And its just for betting credits

Its no different than free credit plays on horse racing

At least they got OP to post about DraftKings™

How nice of them to capitalize on the big controversy of the day

I do, but it's just a lame ploy. I would be trying to get my money back on any betting loss then at this point.

"Well in the third quarter of the game they called it an interception and it wasn't. That changed the momentum of everything and I lost my money line bet because of it"

Interesting if voters take this into account.

Penn state would've dropped anyways for looking like shite against Indiana.

But the voters could view this as a tie.

Professional gambling sites don't give away free money without just cause for PR reasons.

They do it all the time

Especially outside of the United States

You have severely overestimated the amount of money we are talking about

And also completely missed that its only betting credits. Meaning you have to replay on their site.

They figured out that handle was small before deciding this. Gotta imagine most ml bets came in on indiana. Most people who bet penn st did the spread. I wonder if it counts for parlays and teasers

It’s just a site credit
They do this shite a lot
You can get “parlay insurance” if you bet a 3 leg parlay and lose they’ll give you up to $10 site credit back
Give $50 in site credit just for the start of football season
Bet the Chiefs +101 points in the first game of the season at -110 odds

Except in this case you technically didn’t get your money back
Say you bet $100 on Penn St in this situation
You get $100 back in your account, but cannot cash out. You need to bet it again, but odds are you won’t win and they’ll keep your money

I don't follow betting.

Did they do the same for Arkansas vs. Auburn?

I was out and saw the replay but not too close, but whats happening? It looked close so whatever they called on the field seemed to stand. Was something obvious?

Usually you have to “turnover” site credit a bunch of times before you can cash out too

You might have to make 3 or more bets successfully to ever be able to cash out

That’s why most regular bettors say no to the site credit, all it really does is tie your money up
