His vision did wonders for the USFL.

What is he wrong about that you are crying so hard mate

Trump gives off that "Who's winning the match" type energy. You can tell he don't know shite about sports.

He's right
But we also need to keep the government out of it.

I wonder if he realizes where the money the coaches are being paid comes from...
The universities may not be able to afford the coaches' contracts, but the football program definitely can. LSU football had $107,950,137 in revenue last year.

Well first of all the topic of discussion in this case is NIL, not coaches’ salaries.

How is it horrible for the players???

This is literally Trump's quote.
“Colleges cannot afford to be paying the kind of salaries you’re hearing about. "
NIL isn't a salary, it's compensation but it isn't fixed.
Coaches have a salary. They sign multi-year contracts.
Players NIL deals change wildly year over year.

He’s talking about NIL, not coaches. He did use the term “salaries,” which even if one takes issue with the use of that term in this instance, it’s still not extremely difficult to realize what he’s referring to, given the surrounding context. Or at least shouldn’t be.

Well he's right about that. the NIL deals are stupid and need to get sorted out. Hopefully they can make progress in the next few years.
That being said, the NIL deals aren't coming from the Universities either so my point still stands.
Bryce Underwood money came from Portnoy and Trump's boy Larry Ellison
I doubt he is worried about paying Underwood $12 million when his net worth swings $30 billion in a week.

“I think the NIL is a disaster for sports. It’s horrible for the Olympics, and I think it’s actually horrible for the players,” he said.
Again, given context, I don’t think it’s all that difficult to make an assumption that he’s not exactly referring specifically to those players who are being paid increasingly higher and higher “salaries.” That isn’t necessarily the group he’s talking about there, generally speaking.

The NCAA still would have been slapped down in court because all this is finally being recognized as a business.
Fans cling to this romantic notion of college sports being something special and different, but when the money came in, it became a business no different than any other business and no less subject to the laws regulating business operations and prohibiting restraint of trade and facilitating people being able to take their skills elsewhere if they choose, barring a specific contractual agreement otherwise.
And it was inevitable that once the people who are actually busting their asses and putting their necks on the line in this stuff got tired of doing it for the mere pittance, compared to how much others are getting out of the pot, of a college scholarship and got the right case in court, we were going to be where we are right now.
Trump is just running his mouth and he is not going to do jack caca, it’s not going back to where it was before.
I will note that the Supreme Court decision that unleashed all this was 9-0, conservatives and liberals united, and Brett Kavanaugh who wrote the decision and is no left-winger signaled strongly that he’d support giving athletes even more freedom and clout in this stuff.
