Zach Lowe thinks Duncan is possibly one of the 5 best players ever

quote:

This was Duncan’s fifth championship, same as Kobe and one more than Shaq. Scrap the “best power forward ever” designation. Duncan has been a center for the majority of his career, and the obsession over position moves the talk about his legacy away from where it should go. It’s time to talk about whether Duncan is one of the five greatest players ever — a well-rounded offensive force and one of the half-dozen greatest defenders in history.

no, i dont think so...Wilt scored 100 points in a game without a 3 point line, he led the league in rebounding, one year he led the league in assists. Wilt and Bill Russell changed the game. Certainly the competition wasnt as strong or athletic, but the league is now watered down due to expansion. either way, the two best centers of all time. Bill Russell and Wilt.

Shaq would have been every bit as dominant and more had he played in their era. Come on man. He was the same height as Wilt and 50 lbs heavier.

He was ahead of Kobe before yesterday IMO. Him taking less money to make that last championship run possible is something you just don't see and adds to his legacy.

Duncan was the best player on his team on 4 of 5 of his championships. Kobe was the best player on his team for only 2 of 5.

Parker and possibly Leonard were better than Duncan this year.
