I'd love to see what the asking price is.

ETA: Forgot about that contract. Nevermind.

That's what 310 MM? IDK. One of the LA teams maybe.

ETA:

Maybe someone can leverage that cap space. I don't see anyone eating the bill plus valuable prospects.

Of course they're willing now, the guy is mashing the ball on the way to an MVP trophy.

His value will probably never be higher than it is right now.

290 over 10 years with an opt out three years from now. I'd make the move if we could guarantee an opt out

lol, the asking price, is probably a backup OF, who can fill in immediately.

When your player has over 295million left on his contract, you have ZERO leverage. Rumor before deadline was, you take contract, he's your(passan).

Bite the bullet? Stanton has 10 years $295 million left on his deal. He would easily get more than that if he hit the open market after this year.

I thought morosi said the other day that a Stanton trade was getting pretty far with a mystery team before the deadline and there was a decent chance something would have happened until the whole ownership thing

If true that could make things interesting now

He isn't getting almost 30 million for a decade right now. He's get that over 6 or 7, but not a decade

Barring a disasterous 3 years, I think you can bank on an opt out

Don't forget, he has a full no trade clause. So it would have to be somewhere he wants to go (i.e. NY, LA). Cleveland, Nationals, Rockies, DBacks etc probably will get the finger. The middle. New ownership in Miami might entice him to stay.

That contract is massive but only taking the contract was enough before he hit 23 homers in 35 games.

They'd be dumb to just shed the contract now.

It's weird because they have one of the best outfields in baseball and some good infielders, yet want to sell.

They should hold on to him and try to compete next year after getting some pitchers.

From where? The Yanks have Judge, and his contract looming. Dodgers would be the next logical choice, but I am not familiar with their roster situation. Not many clubs are willing to invest that much capital in one player.

10/$295 million guaranteed for a guy who has a long history of not being on the field consistently plus he can opt out after 2020 so I'm gonna guess no

I believe Passan said, If you take the contract, he's yours. Meaning they will take a backup OF to fill his position till rosters get expanded.

And I said it before, Ownership wants a black book, want Cheap, controlled players to fill those big contracts.

Miami will never make $$$$, but they want to at least stop the sieve, put a plug in the hole.

If I were Jeets, I'd tell Loria that he could not commence any transactions while the sale is being processed.

Judge isn't going to be a free agent until after 2022 and they have a lot of money coming off the books the next couple of years so they could absorb the contract but they want to get below the tax line and have Frazier, Hicks and Judge in the outfield
