I thought morosi said the other day that a Stanton trade was getting pretty far with a mystery team before the deadline and there was a decent chance something would have happened until the whole ownership thing
it was actually passan who said that

At least four teams have inquired about the possibility of trading for him, sources said, and talks on a potential Stanton deal with one team before the July 31 non-waiver trading deadline had progressed to the point where the sides were exchanging names of players who could come back to Miami in return

I agree. Especially because Loria is the fricking worst and I wouldn't put it past him to sell the team while destroying it on the way out.

Miami loses cash, new ownership doesn't want to bleed $, like Loria did.

They will be lucky to get a C Prospect. No one gives a f how many homers he has, he's owed 295million, and it takes him into the 36-38ish years.

While deal was being made for ownership, it was reported, that new ownership said to SELL,SELL,SELL.

The books are in the bigtime red. Miami bleeds $$$. Fans dont give a f down there. Super band wagon.

I doubt it. It's just too much money.

I really don't think any owner would be willing to take on that contract. Especially with Stanton struggling to stay healthy already in his career.

If an NL team without a DH takes it on, their GM should be sent to the guillotine.

Yeah, I was reading a few articles on Loria. He seemed like a real piece. Making promises to season ticket owners, using public funds for a new stadium (and increasing the value of his team). The city put a clause in about sharing any profit should he sale, but they made a mistake and put a expiration date in the contract. Many feel this is why he stalled the sale.

From where? The Yanks have Judge, and his contract looming. Dodgers would be the next logical choice, but I am not familiar with their roster situation. Not many clubs are willing to invest that much capital in one player.

??? Judge is under team control until like 2022 so that is a non factor. I think the Yankees would be smart to trade for Stanton if the Marlins agree to eat at least 15% of the contract or take Ellsbury. Judge moves to LF /DH

I'm not saying i don't like Stanton, and wouldn't want him on my team with contract. I would love it.

I'm saying, Marlins have ZERO leverage, no matter if he hits 200 homers this season. 295 for 10 years is an albatross. You will be lucky to get a C prospect.

Now, if Miami agreed to eat 95mil, they could bring in a huge haul. But they want to get out of these deals, not pay some one to leave.

and that's where the impasse comes from. Marlins are going to want someone to take on the full amount

The Yankees gave A-Roid 275 over 10

I'd LOVE to see Gianny come to the Bronx and be the bailiff to the Judge
