I want North Carolina or Virginia honestly. They both add phenomenal academics, "new markets" (Washington D.C., state of Virginia, the Research Triangle, Charlotte, Greensboro), good sports all around, and some of the best college towns to visit.

When I was there, capacity was around 58,000.
their capacity hasn't been below 62k since the 70s.
during most of that time VHS couldn't hold much more than 42k.
so yea, you are talking out of your arse due to ignorance.

I see now that it's like 70,000. I guess they now count the grass end zone as seating. Nobody even sat there 5 years ago. There was no demand for it.
and here is a pic from a game 6 years ago against Nebraska

That was the one time they beat Nebraska. That was the ONLY game I couldn't just walk up and get tickets to. Every other week if there were 200-300 people sitting on the rocks, it was a good week.
I knew a guy who was one of the directors of their physical plant, and he would just give me like 10 tickets most weeks because I was the only one who wanted them or needed them.
I know EXACTLY what I am talking about.
And by the way, capacity for VH Statium is over 60,000 and it has been for about a decade.

St. Louis/KC TV market
Do the people in these cities care about college football?

No. KC is at least 50/50 for Kansas, besides. Lawrence is less than an hour from KC. Columbia is like 130 miles away from both cities. From what I know about STL, they don't care about college football, and there are a decent number of Illini fans anyway.

Honestly, that's what I thought. I think they are more pro sports towns than anything else.

They would certainly make the conference more powerful, but SEC already is in Florida market. And yea the Gators would fight it to the death.

I'm personally pretty glad it didn't happen.

I wanted Georgia Tech and Florida State. TV markets don't matter to me since I only have so many TV's. I understand why the SEC made the choices they made, though.

FSU begged to join for years. And we were told no every year.

Being from St. Louis, I can tell you that Mizzou football is pretty damn big there, actually. Obviously, for an entire generation Missouri football was mediocre at best and atrocious at worst, so it fell off the radar for a while (much like LSU did). Nevertheless there remained a strong contingent of die hards while I grew up there.
Now that they are good again and have been really since Brad Smith and Gary Pinkel, St. Louis has a bunch of Mizzou fans. Far more Mizzou fans than Illini fans. And while tickets weren't that hard to come by a little over 10 years ago, that's no different than a team like Ole Miss or Miss St. when they are mediocre (i.e. usually) and not playing a big name game (i.e. the Mizzou-Nebraska game or Ole Miss-LSU).
That said, quite obviously St. Louis is a baseball town and KC loves their Chiefs. There's no doubt about that. But I can guarantee you the SEC performed its due diligence and market research and found that Mizzou was a good fit financially for the conference.

You've never really hung out around FSU huh

Mizzou/a&m fit in culturally?

Oh I agree on Mizzou. A&M fits in...well, to the extent those freak shows fit in anywhere.

There's also not a huge difference between FSU/UF. Neither fit in with the ole miss/miss state/bama/uga crowd.

This is what I recall as well.
As for the OP, yes I wished FSU was in the SEC. Several natural rivalries. I also understand whay UF doesn't want FSU in the SEC/ For my part, since UF has been the SEC's athletic flagship over the last 2 decades, I'll defer to their wishes.
