Do you think we'll have football this fall?

One thing to pass along: I’m increasingly hearing from coaches and front office executives that they believe it will be nearly impossible for the season to start on time. Some believe training camp will start in the fall.

One dynamic in play is that some coaches are having blunt conversations with team doctors. The doctors are telling them the truth. That the pandemic could last months. There’s been no sugarcoating or lying.

Also, keep in mind, the pandemic isn’t hitting the country evenly. It’s a disaster in NY area, California and stare of Washington. Now creeping heavily into Louisiana. Teams in those states are impacted differently than places where the virus hasn’t hit hard yet.

Worst case we miss preseason. Oh well.

If the curve starts to flatten in say late August, can the NFL theoretically start the season in time with no training camp and preseason?

Yes.
I wonder if they would consider playing in empty stadiums?
I have to assume testing will be much much further along and players/staff can all be tested and cleared.

No season gets cancelled and TB12 retires next year. Bucs never get to see TB12 take a snap.

No not in that scenario. But they have a history of having shortened seasons under duress (usually for a strike)
So I think in that situation we would get a 10-12 game regular season

If we just shut everyone down relatively speaking for 3 weeks this would be over. Doing this governors or mayors get to decide thing is dumb IMO. Not to get too political but this thing could be done before May if we took the right precautions

Two pre-season games and 14 game schedule. Six divisional games, six conference games, and only two non-conference.

Or more extreme, cut AFC-NFC games entirely to keep it more even. 12 game season.

Unfortunately I think that ship sailed weeks ago. If there had been widespread testing and everything had been locked down in February, we might have been able to flatten the curve within a month like South Korea and Taiwan has been able to do. It's too late now. This thing's going to last a while.

More chicken littering from the More Soy Board. I give all this lockdown nonsense another 2, maybe 3 weeks. You’re not going to stop people from going to church on Easter Sunday. For 90% of the country it will be back to business as usual by May 1st.

I think you meant to post this one under the I Bleed Garnet account

I guess my question is why? If the illness can last a week to 10 days and you need 14 days quarantined after that, that's 24 days. I'm giving it an extra 10 days.
Now you will have some people who will get sick doing necessary things (healthcare people or police officers or even going to the grocery store) but I feel like if we shut it down now we would be in good shape in a month.
I'm probably missing some things, but that would seem to solve 95% of the problem.
You may know much more than I do, so if you have different ideas please share them. I would be interested to hear

No GCA, I don’t think I will

Most college’s athletic budgets are supported by football and the main live events people watch anymore are football games. Too much money riding on football to cancel it.
I’ve been saying this... if we’re still “shutdown” as an entire country over this come August, we are so fricked football will be an after thought.

Another thing we will have to wait and see is how the heat truly affects it. If high temps really kill it, then help is on the way. It's supposed to be 87 here tomorrow.

I think even if we return to everyday commerce soon that sporting events and festivals may be on a much longer hiatus
