I am not entirely convinced that Pedro even had the best peak of his generation of arms. Early 90's Maddux was a fricking joke.
However, Pedro is an absolute first ballot guy barring something stupid happens.

Pedro had the greatest prime in baseball history. The best ERA+ in history. In the heart of the steroids era. In the American League where bloated mid-30s mutant DHs were crushing HRs like crazy. In the AL East. In a hitters park. In the era of bandbox ballparks. With smaller strike zones than ever before.
And he did it with such flair. He was ruthlessly efficient but an incredible showman to boot. Every Pedro start during that time felt like an event. If you actually watched him, he was even better than his stats indicated. FOUR major league out pitches. It was like he had a cheat code.
What I'm trying to say is, OP's question is fricking stupid and insulting.

Pretty sure Pedro's 1999 season is the best season ever for a pitcher.

I agree with you, but I do not think it is as clear cut as some on here like to make it.
A lot of the really good baseball posters on here pretty much declare him the GOAT. I am not sure, but I do believe Maddux had a better career and his peak was not that far off.

Maddux had the greatest career ever considering all factors.
Pedro had the greatest prime. And, yes, Maddux's prime wasn't that far off. '94/'95 Maddux was freakin unreal.

I have just have a little trouble with absolutes when it comes to pitching for some reason. It is not like he avoided roiders either. Sure, Fulton County Stadium was not exactly Fenway, but still, he was well, good.

Msddux was fantastic, but the difference for me is Pedro's Ks plus playing in the AL and Fenway.
It is scary to think how even more amazing his '99 season could have been if it wasn't for an abnormally high BABIP (.323)

This thread sucks.
Let's at least have an interesting pitcher HOF question.
Roy Halladay, yay or nay?

That's like asking if Peyton Manning is a HOF QB. At his peak, Pedro Martinez was the best pitcher in the history of baseball.
Payron career > Pedro's career
Still a HOF though

If he didn't play for the Yankees he might not

I don't think he will be first ballet and I think it will take him longer than most here believe to get in. A lot of writers will look at his overall stats and nick pick them to death. 219-100 win/loss record and a 6-4 record in the playoffs are not HOF numbers.

he has 3,300 hits. like 8th or 9th all time
is there any player with 3k hits not in the hall?

That is not interesting. Halladay is a 100% HOFer and was from the moment he threw that no hitter in the playoffs anything he's done or will do after is gravy
