For the SEC to establish in federal court they have the ability for self governance particularly punishing what amounts to an arm of the state of Louisiana wouldnt it need to show consistency in punishment

No, just the legal authority.

How many times has the court granted legal authority to an organization that has massive discrepancies in how it punishes its members which are state institutions?

Examples of the first 2 are common. The third variable (members which are state institutions) makes it something that may be too rare to have many examples.

Major sports leagues all have examples of 1+2, though. Just think of the inconsistent punishments in the NFL via Goodell or the NBA

I can’t understand how any third party doesn’t see LSU as the adult in this entire saga

Never filed ridiculous lawsuits, never ran to the media mouthpiece to leak ridiculous stories, etc

Just followed rules and stayed quiet

Which is quite a big deal.

This has massive financial implications for the state institution which is an arm of the state of Louisiana.

Hence why Sankey would lose and why he will drop the case as quietly as he can

Not anymore. Not once LSU bent the knee.

You can see how everything changed once that happened.

Now I imagine the members will work out rules to prevent these state court actions thwarting SEC enforcement authority moving forward.

So do you know admit that the SEC has no intentions of going to court?

Earlier you said at this point it’s essential and that the continuation didn’t mean they weren’t going to court because it’s an essential issue

If they all agree, then court isn't necessary.

The tea leaves are indicating that's the plan.

You about 6 hours ago

Exactly. The federal suit is much bigger than LSU or this one situation, which is why it was always going on, even if LSU bent the knee like we did. Bending the knee got LSU out of potential hot water Thursday, but was never going to impact Wednesda

No...If all the members agree that the SEC has its enforcement authority, then the lawsuit isn't needed anymore.

LSU acquiescing, the hearing being continued, and then the SEC removing the expulsion from the agenda indicates they are all working this out.

You're trying to focus too much on the process as some gotcha and ignoring the ultimate goal and how it appears the SEC is about to achieve that.

If as you said it’s “bigger than LSU or this one situation”

Then all it takes is one legitimately rogue coach or president (not click bait like they paint kiffin and LSU) to take them to court

This was to establish legal precedence.

There still is no legal precedence

Until the next TRO.

Which will come

The enforcement authority is for all members in all situations. That's bigger than LSU or this one sitaution.

Why are you so confused? This isn't complicated.

The entire point is to prevent these state court shenanigans in the future

That's why it's bigger than LSU or this one situation.

Which by your own admission they needed to have established in court

For now there is a temporary truce.

All it takes is one new coach or AD who wants to push.

If a member was fighting them.

When LSU acquiesced last night, that appears to have changed.

If they all agree, they don't need court. LSU bent the knee. The state TRO is moot now.

I don't know if this will take the form of a judgment in the federal case or what, but it seems that they're developing an agreement about the SEC's enforcement

Continue arguing yourself.

The SEC was going to likely lose the federal court case and it was going to blow their whole illusion up.

All it takes is the next coach and AD willing to push.
