Lol I never knew the Knights weren't an NHL team, I thought they were in Atlanta and Quebec, goes to show what I know about the NHL.

They weren't NHL but fans still packed the Omni anytime I went.

current teams, I’d say it’s a tossup between them and the Arizona Coyotes.

I gonna preface this by saying I'm in no way a hockey fan(though I do think the sport is very fun to watch in person). I actually know a pretty decent amount of coyote fans out here, particularly considering how much of a transplant town the Phoenix metro area is (which makes it a rather poor sports town in general in terms of attendance).

The coyotes also suffer from the fact that the arena is way over on the west side of town, so anyone in Scottsdale or the east side of town is looking towards at least an hour drive each way to get there, which is tough during the week.

They have a nice arena though, good place to watch a game.

That’s actually the only place I’ve seen a NHL game. They had lots of snowbirds in the house. It was a good atmosphere. I liked the arena a lot. Location wasn’t great, but the shopping center it was attached to had a cool vibe.

I just think that the team doesn’t resonate outside of the area. Some of the new teams have created some good followings, like Tampa, Nashville, Columbus, Minnesota.

I feel like the Coyotes are closer to being in Panthers territory.

They were just one of those teams in one of the markets meant for away fans to fill up every night

A journalism professor at NLU (now ULM) in the mid 70's had been the president of their fan club. He had signed jerseys and sticks in his office.

Correct, and we also had the Flames from 72-80
ETA: My guy was a Flames fan. In the 70's, I didn't keep up with hockey enough to know that stuff was for a minor league team.
