are you serious?

Bonds prior to steroids hit more than 45 Hrs once in 14 his years in the big leagues,
then at the age of 35 he puts up HR totals of 49,73,46,45,45. (250+ in 5 years from the age of 35-39)

He was still a great player before the roids, it didn't change his talent. It changed his power.

The question should be: Is AP not on the juice?

quote:

Ken Griffey Jr.

The frick?

Why should I have any reason to believe he didn't... or care that he didn't for that matter.

Proving a negative is damn near impossible, and anything he did to "prove" his innocence would only make him look guilty.

Baseball should use the steroid era to change their curb appeal by shortening the season.... oh lets say 80 games. Seeing as how the records are FUBAR anyways, I think this would at least make Baseball more interesting.

Two more thoughts:

a) Who's to say Cal Ripken wasn't on some type of PED when he made his run? Nobody gives him shite, and to me he is a prime suspect for some type of PED.

b) MLB showed protect its star athletes. I know there is a difference between a 3 sec violation and steroid use, but MLB needs to do a better job of talking care of its stars like the NBA does.

This makes no sense. Should the IAAF have protected Ben Johnson's results? If MLB was to actively support a cover-up of their stars' positive tests, this would only make baseball more of joke.

yes, barry is one of the greatest players ever with or without steroids. he is not only the only 400 homers 400 steals guy, he's the only 500 homers 500 steals guy.

like i said, he is stronger, but he is and always was a great talent.

steroids have nothing to do with them being that much better of a player, just stronger/easier to recover from injury/etc. talent is talent with or without roids.

If this is true, and many believe to be so, should basketball be considered more in the steroids discussion then it is now?

Bonds went from not making the all century team, (2000)
Then at the age of 35 he went on to breaking the all time single season HR record and then the all time HR record.
Steroids are a great drug.

so incredible talent met incredible strength. if i took roids, i'd bat .000 with 0 hrs bc i dont have the talent.

people who attribute his success to roids are not giving credit to him.

Not sure why you'd assume Griffey would be clean over Pujols.

Especially considering how many injuries Griffey has gone through.

I dont even understand what the big deal is, nowadays at least.

There are so many PEDs that are basically good for you, make you stronger, help you heal faster, with very very little side effects.

Why should they be illegal?

If anyone is not on Roids it is Griffey. His body has broken down much like you would expect for someone of his age. Unlike Bonds who put up career numbers in his late 30's Griffey is actually winding down.

Griffey was too lazy to get the roids and inject himself.

The opposite argument could be made,a nd probably a better argument.

For a guy with that many injuries to still be playing at his age, someone could speculate that steroids had a hand in a lot of his rehabbing.

Let me preface this by saying I hate Barry Bonds, but just thinking about someone hitting 73 homers is one year is absolutely sick. I don't care what he was on, that takes a ridiculous amount of focus and talent. AND steroids. ha.
