eh, im fairly certain that snapping it was an option if they saw the right look on defense. But not many good things happen when you put a DB under center, or under a WR in this case.

The sad thing is, it is clear they had practiced that before

They probably practiced that all week, maybe even since training camp, and nobody associated with the entire franchise had any idea that the formation was 100 percent illegal.

How old are you? Carneys missed XP was way dumber than that shite

Cursed. Not dumb. Those two plays are apples to oranges. Apples to apples would have been if the Saints would have let Aaron Brooks kick the extra point instead of John Carney.

Michigan ran the second-worst special teams play of the weekend. Think about that.

Also seen on twitter tonight: who are the inevitable clickbait writers who are going to be forced by their bosses to write an article defending the play?

The lineman in the swinging gate were not supposed to be off the ball. They just screwed up in their alignment. I'm certain there were two or so options based off of what the defense showed, but quarterback sneaking into 2 defenders with only one blocker was probably not the best move.

I think they lined up the right side of the line a few yards off of the line of scrimmage on purpose, hoping that the Patriots defenders would step up to the newly established not-line-of-scrimmage. However, if the defenders did this and the Colts snapped the ball then they still would have received the illegal formation penalty, so I think they were trying to draw encroachment.

But obviously, that did not happen. In that situation I think the coaches were planning on them never snapping the ball and taking the delay of game penalty. A throw-back to McAfee and then a punt from the sideline wasn't out of the question, but it would have made a lot more sense for Whalen and Colt Anderson to lineup in shotgun to do that, plus you still have the issue of the formation being illegal.

Typically I try to make sense of these stupid things, but I just can't find the angle here. What did Pagano have to say about it at the post game PC?
The more you watch, the funnier it gets.

That stupid shite probably worked in practice because the Colts defense is the only one that is so bad that they followed all the blockers to one side of the field, leaving those two guys by themselves.
