quote:Why would anyone agree to that?
You'd agree that you can't crown him the GOAT with a 3-3 Finals record, right? What about 4-3?
How can you crown MJ the GOAT over Russell?
Using team accomplishments as the sole factor is silly.

quote:I wouldn't crown him, but on the list of reasons, 3-3 is pretty far down there.
You'd crown Lebron James as the greatest basketball player of all time if he scratches his way to a 3-3 record in the NBA finals? Really?
Posted on 5/29/15 at 8:19 pm to shel311
If Lebron loses this finals he will have a losing record in his career against teams with 49+ wins in the playoffs and will be 2-4 in Finals appearances with one of those wins coming off a fluke three he had no part in.

So why 49+ wins and not use 48 or 47? Is it because 49 is a significant number or an arbitrary number that fits some dumbass argument?

quote:Because it's myopic and lacking in context. As stated ad nauseam in this thread, Jordan lost earlier and more often than Lebron which many people choose to ignore or dismiss. These are things people do when they approach an argument with no objectivity or desire to examine an alternative to the narrative they've already finished in their mind. Many people would call that a lazy thought process.
How is it lazy???

Did mj make it to the finals every year?
No? Then by definition he wasnt 6-0 in his career

In their careers isnt like it only like 5 to 6 on full seasons played on each not making the finals. If lebron makes finals every year rest of his career is only way he wont tie michaels numbers in his career that he didnt make finals (not counting wizards)
Again the argument that keeps being said to michael fans "what losing before finals i better!?!?!" Doesnt hold a ton of water because michael is basically tied with lebron on how often he didnt make finals...and hasnt lost when hes made it. Jordans like 6 full seasons he never finished 2nd place...thays inpressive no matter how many times we are gonna act like it was 15 years before he made his first finals

Its hard to compare people from different decades against each other especially if they didn't play each other.
Jordan was the GOAT in the 90's
You could argue for Kobe in 00's
Lebron 2010-
80's you would need to look at magic and bird

It's so stupid. DO THESE RETARDS NOT KNOW THAT JORDAN NEVER LOST IN THE POSTSEASON! AND HE PLAYED WITH NOBODY!

Like I said...Its ALL about winning the whole thing... frick Bron... He is 2-3 and could be 2-4 in the Finals.... Yes it took MJ a while to get to the finals, BUT when he got there he was a perfect 6-0... Get back to me when Bron can say this..........
Even Jordan in his prime couldn't carry this Cavs team to the Finals like LeBron has.

Michael Jordan wipes his arse with pussies like you guys. If you weren't there to witness it you wouldn't understand. Lebron will be working the rest of his life to be Michael Jordan. Of course, he will never get there.

Really thoughtful post. I need to start paying attention to you, I could learn a thing or two.

Yeah, it was such a tough road that there is no way MJ could have beaten these East teams

I mean, everyone outside of Atlanta knew the Cavs were going to win. Atlanta barely made it out of the 1st round. But Jordan couldn't get though that conference?
Jordan in his prime was unstoppable, much like LBJ is doing now.

How significantly different is that from LeBron losing to a Celtics team that won it all, a Magic team that went to the Finals, and the Celtics again, who went back to the Finals?
It's not. That's saying in those years, there was an East team worth a shite and it doesn't take away from LBJ. I'm not saying LBJ couldn't lose to another East team or that makes him "worse" than MJ. But when people hold onto so dearly to "well he made the Finals" and refuse to look at who else was playing for it in the East and that LBJ and co lost more than he's won, it's seems weird. Just making it to the Finals isn't enough if you come from a conference where a superstar like LBJ should make it when there's nobody else worthy. Now, should he go on to win the whole thing over a conference that is light years better, then it shows it didn't matter how terrible the East was because this team deserves it and beat the best of the best. LBJ did that 1 time with no doubts. The other time was the craziest thing I've seen with Pop choking and Ray Allen saving. 2-3 is not GOAT material.
30-7 is Jordan's playoff series record
11-5 with Cleveland (so far)
14-2 with Miami gives LBJ a record of 25-7. Why do I keep hearing about how Jordan lost so many times before the Finals as it's supposed to be a point to LBJ? The other one is "well Jordan lost so early". Guess what, he went to the playoffs his rookie year and lost to MIL then he lost 2 straight in the 1st round to the Celtics who were in 4 straight Finals winning 2.
Lebron didn't make the playoffs till his 3rd season. So to use you guy's argument, "what, would you rather Jordan not having even made the playoffs his first 3 years instead of losing them"?

You really could, you little shite. Lebron will never be Michael, the God of All. Deal with it.
