Wouldn't it be something if Jeter got a triple... thus completing the cycle?

I was hoping that single to right was gonna be down the line and he turn it into a triple.

That ever been done before? Cycle on the day a player hits for 3,000?

The announcers actually asked the same question. I thought it was a pretty obvious answer that it hadn't happened since Boggs was the only other player to hit a HR for his 3000th hit.

But the more I thought about it, someone could have still had a cycle without getting their 3000th hit as a HR.

And I don't see anything wrong with him selling it, agree to disagree

pretty laughable considering this discussion involves a franchise that has more money that God.

And last time I checked, the guy who caught the ball didn't own the Yanks.

which is why he should have kept the ball. or "negotiated" for at least a couple hundred grand from the ball club.

Coincedentially, Price gave up his first MLB home run to.... Derek Jeter.

Lifetime tickets + all the stuff he got + chance to meet all the living legends for the Yankees would be worth it....

Which I wouldn't have a problem with someone doing. However, he clearly stated he believed the ball belonged to Jeter and he doesn't value money. That's his own decision to make whether you think its dumb or not.

A lot of time, trying to cash in on a caught ball comes back to bite you in the arse. Look at the two idiots who fought over Bond's home run ball, they paid more in attorney fees than they got for the ball. This guy will get hooked-up by the Yankees and Jeter more than he would have gotten by trying to sell it himself.

5-5, HR, 2B, *2 RBI's, 2 Runs, 1 SB.

What a game.

* - Game winning RBI

Jeter’s the first player to ever get five hits in a game at the current Yankee Stadium. Of course he is.

ts certainly cool, but there are 27 other balls out there that have been the recipient of a 3000th hit. In a high-value collector world, that doesn't make it rare.

But 26 of those never left the playing field and were thus presumably given directly to the player by an umpire or other player. No fans or collectors involved in chain of possession. So it's really 1 out of 2, since it's unlikely the player himself would sell the ball.

What a great day. Been watching Jeter since 96. What a career. Couldn't have scripted it better.

If you look back to page 5 or 6, Golfer posted all the things they were going to give him. Pretty sweet deal by the Yanks.
