Griffey not being unanimous ruined the HOF voting for me. frick their ceremonial tradition.
And then they break it for Rivera of all people. That's mind blowing to me.

Ken Griffey is the best modern player I've seen.
Did Bonds do those circus catches in the outfield, was Bonds climbing walls with his noodle arm?
Without drugs, Griffey is your best outfielder of the last 40 years.
Barry Bonds was not the household name that Girffey was until he got a fat-drug-head.
I don't remember that Barry Bonds video game in the 90's.

Bonds won mvp in 90, 92, 93... all before steroids. Try again

Two things-- without drugs, Barry was still better than Griffey. And yeah, when he was young, he was an elite outfielder, too. His range went with the increases in mass, but the guy won Gold Gloves for actual performance in the field.
And I imagine someone who witnessed a 'Yeah Jeets' might withhold a vote from him. It seems creepy as all hell, gift baskets aside.

Griffey was one of the best defensive outfielders I have ever seen...I idolized "The Kid" growing up.
But Bonds had the edge over him as a hitter. And, for the record, I'm a major Bonds hater.

Jeter is NOT a first-ballot Hall of Famer.
This is everything that is wrong with the baseball hall.
He was solid defensive during his prime years. He tried to make hustle plays. He's 6th all time in hits AND had a career .310 average. He may have never been an MVP, but he was as consistent as they come.
The HoF argument SHOULD be "is he a HoF player" and he absofrickinglutely is.

Gtfo-/If there is ANYBODY, who is a 1st balloter, it’s Derek fricking Jeter. To even contemplate that there is the slightest chance he won’t get in 1st try is absolutely absurd. He’s much, MUCH more likely to be unanimous than to be left out. Rivera broke that door down. And Jeter was the captain and face of all the Rivera championships. And more.
I was never a big Jeter fan during his prime. I was an ARod guy by far. Liked Nomar better than Jeter. Was a Braves fan, so had to have the prerequisite hate required for him and the wave of disappointment(for the Braves) he brought in ‘96 through the end of the 90s and the early aughts. I loved being the 1st person to call him overrated in any “best” arguments. But then I wasn’t 1st, wasn’t 2nd. Wasn’t 3rd, 4th, or 400th. It had somehow become cool to hate on Derek Jeter. Derek fricking Jeter.
And so I found myself in a strange, unfamiliar position—that of Jeter defender. A white knight. He had become thought of as so overrated, that he had made it all the back, to underrated. Full circle. Sailed so Far East, that you burned up out west.
Ran so far right, that you turned up at the left of her breast. Whose? I don’t know, but I bet she was in a be upper 9s, flirting with the unicorn.
Derek Jeter sucks
Maybe toes, big titties, and clits
Dat dude’s peter fricks
More baskets than he ever got his
And he had 3,465

That is the dumbest statement I have seen in a long time. And I saw Boom post that Harden was better than Jordan this morning.

Who could not vote for him?
Dude there were a lot of players before him who weren't unanimous.
Jeter was and is a HOF player, but not the greatest at his position.
Some other guys who didn't get 100% of the vote in recent time.
Ken Griffey Jr
Randy Johnson
Pedro Martinez
Greg Maddux
Tony Gwynn
Nolan Ryan
George Brett

I'd be shocked if Jeter isn't in first ballot.
I don't think that's the argument. THe argument is if he will be unanimous.
He will 100% be first ballot and it's not even close. He will get 90+% of the vote. But not 100%

great defensive SS,
He will be one of the top 5 worst defensive players inducted into the HOF in the last 50+ years. The only 1 recently that is comparable is Piazza
