I grew up in the Michaels/Diersorf/Gifford era. It was a different time. You watched regardless of who played. The next game wasn’t until Thursday, and it was a college tilt. The MNF matchups always seemed solid.

We have oversaturated the viewing options with the NFL, leaving MNF with lesser matchups.

Don Meredith...his Cowboys unexpectedly got blown out by some poor team (the Cardinals?), and he was unable to comment on the game without displaying bias and trashing the team for running up the score on his old team.

It’s entertainment though

I liked him a lot.

I forget exactly how he said it, but he was once doing the preseason Hall of Fame game. He made a comment (paraphrasing) saying, "You know you would think that we could've been able to find one decent Cantonese restaurant during our trip to the Hall of Fame game." i’m not doing it justice, but I laughed my arse off when he said it.

I was just about to include Kornheiser, but you beat me to it. That was such a bizarre decision.

I watched Dennis Miller Live so I found it somewhat entertaining. I also like a bit of absurdity and that was his forte while announcing.

This has the Flowers for Algernon reference and some of the lead-up to the Rams-Saints playoff game.

My formative years were watching MNF with my dad. Frank Gifford, Al Michaels, and Dan Dierdorf. I can just visualize the tone of Gifford opening dialogue. MNF felt like a great event what I looked forward to after school then stay up late bc it started at 8 pm. I was allowed to only stay up late on Mondays. Talk about the game at school next day. Great times.

It was really weird. He sorta distracted from the broadcast, and I really like his act in general.

Same for me. And the games didn't actually start until 8:20. My parents would never let me stay up to watch the whole game. So I would watch Michaels, Gifford, and Dierdorf work the first half. And at halftime, I went to my room listening to Buck and Stram work the 2nd half on radio. Sometimes, the games wouldn't end until midnight. And I would fall asleep in the 4th quarter. I liked the animated clashing helmets in the introduction. And the 2 Minute Drill with Berman at halftime.

The helmet clashing and then exploding were great. Hank Williams into music. MNF was the best game to watch. It just seemed like every game was played on artificial turf. The uniforms looked brighter. The commentary was great. The fans were loud. Classic games with Jets vs Marino and Dolphins. Montana and 49ers vs Taylor and Giants.

Let's be real, 80% of NFL fans are barely functioning you know what's.

It was really astounding how quickly he got canned even without the use of social media.

Because he sucked and constantly cut off Dan Fouts ?

Nah, couldn’t have been that..

Remember when ABC forced Dickerson on the sideline? That was a role he wasn't ready for. It's a shame Melissa Stark only lasted 3 years on it. She was a fox.

Melissa Stark was my favorite sideline reporter. It was a shame she was not on MNF longer.
