The biggest drop off in terms of talent from the FBS level downward is big guys on the offensive and defensive lines

The Dakota and Montana schools have a lot of in state talent when it comes to the big guys

No competition in their region from the upper realms.

There are no G5 teams in Montana, the Dakotas, Nebraska, Minnesota and Wisconsin. There are only 3 P4 teams. There might not be many 4 star and 5 star recruits from the area, but there are a lot of pretty large human beings that normally would play FBS football. Instead it's go to Minnesota, Wisconsin, Nebraska, one of the Iowas, go halfway across the country to a G5 team or stay regional at the lower level.

I've enjoyed watching them more than these playoff teams.

Bunch of big country baws to play on the OL and DL withou FBS teams in the region to compete against for recruits that want to stay relatively close to home.

FCS football is the biggest show in town around that part of the country, while its an afterthought for fans in P4 territory

That has to be a reason Iowa, Wisconsin etc. Have so many NFL linemen.

A lot of Germanic, Scandinavian blood there, they're just bigger people.

You will feel bigger and taller in Lafayette than in Fargo
