Les Miles won a National Championship at LSU. I highly doubt Les Miles was this great student of the game. Ed Orgeron had no real coaching experience when he became the head coach at LSU, he also won a NC. If those two clowns can win a NC, Sanders can definitely make Colorado respectable.

He will do better than 1-11 but he has to out recruit schools that are still currently getting top 5 classes..and in that weather and conference I don't know how he will do it

I’m not the OP so I don’t have motive as you are assuming they do. But he will fail. Bookmarks it

A year ago u probably forgot Colorado had a football team but since Deion is there u know. Colorado had 3 winning seasons in the last 20 years so they haven’t hired the “right coach “ since the 90’s. You not paying the 12 million so what’s the problem. And who wants to coach players that won 1 game and that was an overtime game to Cal who also was horrible

Who's to say that he's not? He's a HOF NFL player. Widely regarded as one of the best cornerbacks of all time. You don't get to that level simply by talent alone.

Deion is not going to be up at 4 am watching film or installing 3rd and short defensive packages.
Why does it have to be 4am, why couldn't that get done at 8am. Besides, you do know he has assistants right?

But all this hire does is keep them from hiring the right coach. Three years from now they'll be back at rock bottom, only about $12M poorer.
Colorado just sold out their season tickets. Something they haven't done in 25 years.

USC is leaving and Oregon does well but neither are a consistent top 5. After those two.... what Pac 12 schools are getting top 10-15 classes every year?

Including their most productive wide out from last season.

Here's the list:
I guess you could worry about depth but the vast majority of this is non-producers from a 1-11 team. The only guys that were considered to be potential contributors were at WR and secondary which will be the area that a Deion coached team will have the most success in the portal and recruiting.
quote:
OL Jackson Anderson: A 6-foot-4, 295-pounder from Mineola, Texas, Anderson redshirted in 2021 and wasn't a contributor in 2022. He was a three-star prospect in the Class of 2021.
DL Aaron Austin: The 6-foot-2, 230-pounder was a three star prospect in the Class of 2022 out of Fort Worth, Texas.
LB Shakaun Bowser: The 6-foot-4, 230-pounder from Queen Creek, Arizona, didn't record any stats last year. He was a three-star prospect in the Class of 2022.
LB Devin Grant: The 6-foot-3, 260-pound sophomore has played in 15 games and started two during his three seasons with the program. He had 14 tackles and two tackles for loss in 2022 and was expected to contend for playing time in 2023.
OL Alex Harkey: The 6-foot-6, 305-pounder played one season at Colorado after transferring from Tyler (Texas) Junior College.
WR Montana Lemonious-Craig: The superstar from the spring game is one of the highest-profile departures from the roster. He is already receiving offers from FBS programs according to his Twitter account.
CB Jason Oliver Jr: The rising sophomore defensive back had 11 tackles in 2022 -- mostly as a reserve and on special teams. The 6-foot, 175-pounder wasn't expected to see much action in 2023.
WR Grant Page: A 6-foot-3, 200-pound rising redshirt freshman who was an option for rotational snaps. He played in two games in 2022.
DB Oakie Salave'a: Salave'a is a 6-foot-4, 220-pound rising redshirt freshman came to Colorado as a three-star athlete in the Class of 2022. He did not record any stats as a true freshman.
LB Aubrey Smith: Smith had eight tackles and one sack as a true freshman. He was a three-star prospect in the Class of Buford (Georgia) High School.
DB Xavier Smith: The 6-foot-2, 185-pounder from metro Atlanta signed as a three-star prospect in the Class of 2022. The speedster was the Georgia Region 4-AAAAAA Player of The Year in 2021.
RB Deion Smith: Smith was a three-star prospect in the Class of 2018 out of Houston.
WR Chase Sowell: Sowell entered the portal on Saturday. The rising redshirt freshman had two catches for 23 yards in three games last year, and was expected to contend for playing time in 2023.
DB Tyrin Taylor: The rising junior had 26 tackles and one interception last season. He was expected to contend for playing time as a starter for the Buffaloes prior to entering the portal.
WR Jordyn Tyson: The leading receiver from last season was a three-star prospect prior to his success with the Buffaloes in 2022.
RB Victor Venn: A three-star member of the Buffs' 2022 class, Venn didn't record any stats a season ago but had some breakout moments during the team's spring game.
DB Jeremy Mack: The 6-foot junior was a junior college transfer from East Mississippi CC who had 48 tackles last season with four starts.
WR Ty Robinson: The junior entered the transfer portal after catching nine passes for for 95 yards and a touchdown over his career.

Dieon is 23-3 the last 2 seasons as HC... Colorado is 5-19. The ceiling is pretty low here.

Les Miles was successful and he was at the off campus 'football' apartment banging coeds at 4am on work nights

Time will tell.
Is he a top level coach? Maybe not.
Is he a top tier recruiter? I would say that he certainly has the ability to be one.
Can talent allow you to learn to coach on the fly? I would say yes, at least to a degree
At this point, I don’t see a downside long term for someone like Colorado.

Can you give us the list of coaches that ARE doing that?

Where has this ever produced championships though? I know Deion is unlike any coach, probably ever. But this doesn’t usually work.

The stupid thing is saying this like Coach Prime is unique in teaching those messages (and the implied assumption that Saban, Kelly, Swinney, etc. aren’t)

Ed O. Dabo did. But Colorado is never winning a national title again with any coach so they shouldn't worry about that. They should worry about making a bowl game every few years and not getting left behind when the Pac-12 finally crumbles.
