I’m by no means offended by this, but I do wish the PC culture worked both ways. Just imagine if this was a similar situation reversed.

It’s not as funny when you have to edit a joke.

Didn't that already happen?

And everyone took it seriously. Everyone is treating this as a funnny thing Deion said.

Here’s my analysis .

It’s not what he said, it’s the personal assumption behind what he said. He said he’s surprised. So he assumes white players aren’t fast. Just like when someone says he’s suprised that black players scored a 40 on the wondelic. He assumes that blacks aren’t that smart.

So the assumption reflects back on the person who said it. Now, with Deion being black and part of an oppressed group, he’s able to get away with such statement. Now, since whitey is above everyone else, he can’t come out and do the same thing since whitey’s got everything going for him in life. It just wouldn’t be fair.

Well, there are plenty of blacks who score high on the wonderlic. While, there isnt many white dudes that run 4.35.

Why?

I just wish there wasn't a PC culture.

I get what you are trying to say, but which is more detrimental to society, people believing blacks are stupid, or people thinking white guys are slow?

there aren't many guys period that run a 4.35 forty. However, Ryan Swope did a few years ago. Matt Jones ran a 4.37. Danny Woodhead wasn't invited to the combine but ran a 4.33 at his pro day.

This is an old thread from a random message board, but one guy posted a list of white players that had run in the 4.3s at the combine or their pro day as of 2012. The list is 41 players long

Regardless, Deion made a generalization of a race and just wanted to "call it what it is" and I doubt he would like people making generalizations about his race with the caveat of "calling it what it is"

It's called insecurity, unless you are stupid enough to believe that in 1972 Hart and Robinson didn't show up for their qualifying heat for the 100m because of a scheduling misunderstanding.

Borzov was completely in their heads, especially for the 100m as Robinson was more confident he could take him in the 200. As it turned out Borzov won the 200 in even more impressive fashion and anyway Robinson and Hart were not going to follow Carlos and Smith's little "black power" gesture 4 years earlier by standing underneath one of the whitest guys on the planet while they draped the gold medal around his neck.

Whether you care to discuss it are not, there is an established notion of black supremacy in athletics and with that comes an intense insecurity when white athletes excel in sports long dominated by black athletes .

"Check it out, fellas ... brotha just swam the length of the swimming pool!"

Stereotypes exist for a reason ... including white dudes generally being slower than black dudes.

People need to lighten up.

Lots of evidence for that assumption. And it's not just anectdotal.

The last white guy to win the the 100M at the Olympics was in 1980 and that's because the US boycotted the Moscow games.

From 1984 to 2016 all the men's Olympic 100 m finalists have been of African heritage.

I mean I was pretty shocked at that black female swimmer in the Olympics.

Why?

Black people are probably better at being fast swimmers than white people.
