You write what you know about and it's well known most sportswriters and TV personalities are Northeasterners...
PTI, Peter King, all the national Sports radio shows, Yankees, Yankees, Yankees, etc.
Sports media is controlled by the NE. ESPN and guys who went to Northwestern or Boston College.
Yankees, Jets, Pat's, Celtics, that's their universe.
Which is why national coverage of CFB sucks... because it's from a NE perspective. It's from people that don't give a shite about CFB.
What was that national Mad Dog show? It was a national radio show and all they fricking talked about year round was the Yankees.
NE educated liberals have dominated sports reporting for the longest time.
Now it's young NE NY City SJWs.

I always wondered if TD ever thought about running a blog. It’d be cheap and a couple viral blogs would bring a lot of traffic to the side

The other day they had some kind of "Kyrie Irving is amazing and so are the Nets" story. It was a ridiculous suck-off piece analyzing every amazing move or shot he did that night. And you didn't even find out until the final paragraph that THEY LOST THE frickING GAME.

What?
Some of the largest profile CFB writers are from the South/SEC schools
Finebaum is probably the largest voice. Not great but he doesn’t give any NE slant
Ivan Maisel is from Alabama
Pat Forde cut his teeth writing in Kentucky and went to Mizzou
Feldman went to the U
Mark Schlabach went to UGA
Andy Staples went to UF
Clay Travis is a big name, but I’m not sure he actually pays attention to sports anymore

ESPN has always done a good job with their CFB coverage. Everyone else, not so much. At Deadspin it was nonexistent, unless they were doing a "student athlete hypocrisy" story.
But we did get a lot of breaking news stories about Sam Darnold's spleen or how some backup PG scored 26 points in a Knicks loss last night.

I mean to be fair why are you going to deadspin for sports coverage?
When there’s tons of other outlets (highly suggest the athletic)
Deadspin to me before this never seemed like a sports source in the first place
It was just the one to report stories of guys sending dick pics to sideline reporters or football players making up dead girlfriends

I'm old. I went without them for a year after they banned me and when I came back I was so appalled that I just started looking at them to see how ridiculous their stories were.
I used to scroll their feed and click on a half a dozen stories that interested me. Now I might click on a story or two a week.

I always liked certain reporters for Deadspin, never cared for all or even most of what they wrote. But damn when they were on they had some excellent long form journalism. You just had to wade through filler to get to it
