The academic all american thing is obviously meaningless. My roommate at tulane played football. He wasnt exactly bright, never studied, was out til 3 am every night, yet maintained a 3.0 throughout his stay at Tulane.
Those tutors did good work.

If he wanted to have a real interview, he would have had it with deadspin.
He wanted the easy way out, so he got ESPN's worst

I was born and raised in La. Ive always liked sports (particularly football) and grew up a lsu fan. Lsu for sports. Tulane for education. My jr yr i had 2 la roommates who also rooted for lsu. Its not that uncommon.

That's not why I wanted him to be part of it. I was actually hoping, for his sake, that he was a part of it because if he wasn't he becomes the laughing stock of an entire nation. The media calls him naive, I call him one of the dumbest people to ever live.
And it would be much better for Te'o if he was tricked than if he purposely made the whole thing up.

The truth is what we want. The sham interview had more lies and inconsistencies. Florio has a good read on it.

Yeah, I worked as a tutor before. We really did tutor and I never knew of anyone cheating or doing an atheletes work, but they have a staff of full time advisors who monitor student progress and direct them on which classes to take and when, i.e. they know which teachers tend to give higher grades and which ones are too difficult to take during playing season.
Back when the scholarships were 4-year deals, the way they got rid of players who performed poorly was to sign them up for difficult classes during playing season...they could pull the scholarship for bad grades, but not for bad performance. Now, however, with the one year deals, if you suck they just don't give you the scholarship next year, kind of like Milton in Office Space.

Still have no idea why
Maybe ESPN called in so the story would die down more quickly

Chicken is actually the owner of espn?

This thread doesn't need a sticky.

When the thread is anchored, we will have an answer.

Same here. But what will happen is everyone will focus on the catfishing and not on Manti trolling the frick out of everyone about his struggles to get Heisman votes.

Your recent post history begs to differ
Huge news just broke less than 12 hours ago, I'd say it's still newsworthy

Think he was saying the posts will keep it at the top.

Also, didn't Deadspin or someone report a few days ago that Roninah deleted the Kekua account
Yet someone had re-established it and was using it to troll, I.E. make an "announcement at 12 p.m. Pacific Time" which later just became a troll
That, coupled with the Photoshopped-looking DM's, looks pretty sketchy
Not only does it look shopped but at least one of the messages is over 140 characters. Twitter doesn't allow me to send a DM longer than 140.

Just reading the ESPN transcript, Schaap is doing a piss poor job.

Gotta be kidding me!
