Soon.

Supposedly, they were "dating" for less than a year. They first "met" online in 2009, very little interaction
Not true. From the quotes in the CNN article...
"They started out as just friends. Every once in a while, she would travel to Hawaii, and that happened to be the time Manti was home, so he would meet with her there. But within the last year, they became a couple. And we came to the realization that she could be our daughter-in-law. Sadly, it won't happen now."
These are some lying frickers.

He didn't make her up for publicity. He made her up to get his family and teammates off his back about not having a girlfriend.
It was just serendipitous that it led to positive publicity when she "died."
I could actually see this as well. The "publicity" angle (at least that it started out that way) just seems completely dumb. It's either he's gay or he really was duped (with some obvious exaggerations/lies in the story, along the way).

Is it just me, or is CFB becoming more and more like the WWE every passing day?

Its almost impossible to have a lot of tackles playing for a top defense(he lead the #1 scoring D in tackles). At least 4 of his ints were diving catches. If you think anything about his season was average then you didn't watch.
BWAHAHAHA #1 defense

I'll bet that hurts them to the soul.

I agree that it was probably a poor decision to kill her off. "Breaking up" with her would have been better.
But, had she already been in a "car accident" and diagnosed with "leukemia"? It'd be hard not have him portrayed as a complete dick if you run with the "broke up" narrative at that point.

Why kill her off that week?
Before it got too big. We might not have heard a whole lot about him at that point but ND fans were drooling over him already and already questioning if she was real from what I understand.

interesting......
Cowherd just told the story how an ESPN executive told him about Te'o on Monday, but said the network didn't have all the facts to run the story.
Makes sense after all because obviously Deadspin isn't exactly ESPN ... they base themselves on uncovering dirt ESPN normally wouldn't run

I think this is what happened. When he learned, he was too far in to end the lie and he probably knew it would potentially destroy their dream season along the way.
I didn't read the whole thread. How do we know he found out in early December?
