melo is peice of shite ballhog. so what he played great the last olympics. not worth the risk, we've got 5-6 players who can easily fill it up for 30 points on a given night.

That's exactly what will happen. Ever watch team USA play basketball? Durant played the 4 or 5, basically the whole time he was on the floor in the 2010 FIBA championships.

Melo was amazing in the Olympics, and by most accounts was a great teammate.

Anybody on that roster can go for 25-30 a night... thats why they're on the roster, theyre the best in the world. You seriously want to leave arguably the most talented NBA scorer at home for a guy who can jump high? Griffins post game is fricking awful.

Let me break it down for you why I don't care to see Melo repping USA Basketball. Honestly I don't give a frick of his spot is filled by Griffin, Davis, Bynum, Duncan, hell any of 10 good NBA players other than Melo
Go back to Game 1. Knicks vs Hear. Amare is out. The Heat go on 32-2 run. Your superstar, your great USA basketball player, and someone the media claims a 'superstar' is on the court and allows another team to go on a 32-2 run.
I know basketball is a team game and the Knicks role players aren't exactly top notch, but there is no way a 'superstar' shouldn't to be able to grab his teammates by the jersey, lock someone down, play defense, and keep yourself in a game.
Awesome. We've got a elite scorer on our team. He'll put up 27-28 when hot and at the same time give up 25 to the guy he is guarding.
Superstars make there teammates better, show leadership, and do whatever it takes to win. No jack up shite shots, pout, then bitch to the media about your coach not understanding why the offense won't work unless it's run thru you.
When Melo was out. The offense went thru an Asian undrafted, 3rd string PG by the name of Lin. Who unbelievebly made his teammates around him play better than they are and better than Melo has all season.
Great, we sell some USA basketball jerseys in NY with Melos name on the back. When we've got an entire team, you said it yourself, an entire team of guys who can light it up for 25-30 on a given night and play team ball and defense. Brilliant.
I was all for Melo in the past, but after this season, frick no. I'm selling Melo being an elite scoring NBA superstar. You start your team with him or sell him to a big contract, go for it, I'd take 10 other NBA players before Melo.

Im sure Tracy McGrady, Dominique Wilkins, Steve Francis, Zach Randolph, Glenn Rice, Antwoin Jamison, and Ben Gordon would have all made great USA Basketball players....

They need 4 legit big to bang with Spain. Even if the 4th doesn't play until Spain, they have to take him. Pau, Marc, and Ibaka will be a stout frontline. Bron and Melo can't play the 4 vs those guys. If they aren't prepared to match up with Spain, then Colangelo needs to be canned.
Ball Handlers: CP3, DWill, Westbrook
Wings: LBJ, Wade, Kobe, Durant
Bigs: Chandler, Love, Bosh
2 spots left. I take Davis for depth (no Griffin bc he plays no defense and power games dont translate well internationally) and Iguodala. Odom could be an option if his head is back on.

They do it in the NBA, why can't they do it internationally?
They'd have three true bigs in the Gasols and Ibaka. Ibaka barely needs to be guarded and we have Chandler, Bosh, and Love to counter with. Don't see why we need 4 bigs.
