NBA commissioner David Stern said Monday that he doesn't believe Derrick Rose's ACL tear, or the other major injuries plaguing the league this season, had anything to do with a schedule condensed by a lockout.

"I don't think it's related at all. Zero," Stern said on "The Herd With Colin Cowherd" on ESPN Radio.

If Stern is REALLY serious, hes an idiot. Nothing much more to say really...

I would say this perticular Rose injury probably had little to due with the schedule but to think some of the other injuries he and others have had arent due to the schedule is ignorant

Constant wear and tear on the body with insufficient time to rest (playing three straight games or four games in five days). Baseball is one thing since the players stand around more than move. But basketball involves constant moving around (sideways, forwards and backwards).

If the ACL happened to be weak (possible, Rose does have a history of injuries), then the condensed schedule played a huge part.

he couldve jumped wrong or landed funny regardless of how many games or practices he had.

I do think it's a little bit of a copout to blame all these injuries on the schedule.

Like they throw Chauncey's achilles in there, but that happened way at the beginning of the year before this schedule took a toll.

Rose just had really bad luck this year. The guy had like 5 different injuries. How worn down could he really be when he barely played this year?

What do you expect him to say? Of course he's gonna say there's no correlation. Would be stupid for him to say anything else

He's had a ton of rest the 2nd half of the season.

Stern is a dumbass. He is the main reason Seattle lost the Sonics. He is bad for the game.

That doesn't make him wrong here. Has there been any actual data to support that there are more season ending injuries this year? Or is that just the perception because it happened to two of the best players in the league?

Why does this even matter?

The two sides got in a tiff that required a dense schedule.

They both agreed to play that schedule.

Barring another contract slap fight, they won't be playing this type of schedule again.

I say move along every body.

The fact that Stern is being blamed for this is ridiculous as well. Wilbon's montage yesterday on SC made it seem that the players were forced into this schedule. They wanted as many games as possible to make as much money as possible, just like the owners.

He missed 27 games I think. The ACL is probably not from wear and tear. But Stern is still a douche.

If teams were really scared of their players and the condensed schedule, they would have sat them more often.

Dr. David Altchek disagrees. Altchek is from the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York and is a consultant for the NBA and has operated on players such as Josh Howard, David West and Purdue's Robbie Hummel. "There is no evidence that wear and tear, or that kind of issue, playing too much, really has any correlation with ACL injuries in any sport that we've ever studied," Altchek said Sunday. "In fact, I think if you're tired [from a condensed schedule], you're a lot less likely to tear your ACL because you're not going to be as explosive."
