His wife and his daughter....tragic.

Edit: Looks like just the daughter. It is poorly worded.

I couldn't imagine losing my wife or my daughter, much less both of them at the same time. RIP

ETA: Should have read the article and not the replies. Still sad obviously.

Very sad.

quote:

The accident occurred at Louisiana Avenue at I-10 and is still under investigation.

quote:

The preliminary investigation revealed that 67-year-old William Rawlings of Killeen, TX was driving a 2010 Freightliner 18-wheeler eastbound on I-10 when he encountered slow moving traffic in an active construction zone. For unknown reasons, Rawlings was unable to slow down in a timely manner and struck the rear of a 2015 Dodge Ram pickup driven by McNeil.

If you know this area then you know it's only a matter of time before something like this happened. That area is an accident waiting to happen.

For unknown reasons, Rawlings was unable to slow down in a timely manner and struck the rear of a 2015 Dodge Ram pickup driven by McNeil. That initial crash began a chain reaction involving a total of five vehicles. McNeil’s vehicle was pushed into Glasco’s vehicle, a 2017 Ford Escape. Glasco’s Ford then struck the rear of a second 18-wheeler, which in turn struck another 18-wheeler.

IYAM there ought to be prison time for something like that.

This is why I can't wait until Tesla can get the green light on its self driving 18 wheelers. This happens every year several times a year on 1-12 and 1-10. Dumb truck drivers all geeked up on upers.

18 wheelers should have their own dedicated lanes on interstates.

sounds very similar to a string of two or three unrelated accidents on I-16 near Georgia Southern a few years ago. Ga Southern students were killed in each accident on a stretch of interstate where work was being done and big rigs ran right into stopped traffic.

I remember that. 3 college girls killed by a texting 18 wheeler driver.

went back and looked. there were three wrecks in the span of 2 months each with an 18 wheeler ramming into cars on the same stretch of interstate. 5 people were killed in each of the first two and three in the other. the first wreck killed five GSU nursing students.

That area is a shite show with the construction. Narrow, shifting lanes with a concrete barrier on the inside. I absolutely hate that stretch of I-10 between BR and Lafayette. Either direction I feel blessed to have not died along the way.
