I would rather it be Gregerson to face the RH portion of their lineup than Liriano as a specialist vs their LH hitters

If we get to the 8th with a 1-3 run lead, here is my hierachy of trust for who should take the mound:

Verlander with 100 pitches.
Verlander with 110 pitches.
Verlander with 120 pitches
Gregerson
Musgrove
Verlander with 250 pitches
Harris
Devenski
Verlander with one arm if his right arm mysteriously and tragically gets amputated between innings
Liriano
Giles

This is assuming Hinch doesn't want to roll the dice on McCullers in case he needs him tomorrow, that Peacock needs one more day of rest, and that McHugh and Morton are not in the mix.

As opposed to other days when you can focus on dick???

(not that there would be anything wrong with that, of course)

Those of yall who live in the Houston area I Have never seen anything like this. Everywhere you go it's Astros. Every store. Every place. Every conversation. Got my hair cut and the old women in there were breaking down the bullpen issues. It's nuts how badly this city wants this. I hope they bring it home tonight like I've never hoped for anything.

I don't think that those assumptions are correct, but if they were, I'd switch Musgrove and Gregerson. Other than that, spot on.

You have a LOT more confidence in Gregerson than I do. I'd let Beltran come off the bench and pitch before putting Gregerson in any situation that matters...

I don't live in Houston so I don't get a daily feel for the mood of support. But I was around enough during the 100 loss years. Nobody cared. I remember going to a lifeless mid week game because CSN was giving away free tickets.

Bandwagon fans or not, idgaf. I love seeing all the support they're getting. It was awesome leaving MMP after game 7, walking through downtown hearing people yelling "let's go Astros"

Yeah, I had a hard time figuring out what the roles of McHugh, McCullers, and Peacock should be tonight. I would be shocked to see Morton at all. As much as I would be tempted to throw McCullers out there tonight, you have to have a plan for Wednesday just in case....and I think McCullers is your best fall-back option for tomorrow. Peacock is hard to gague...I don't know if his arm is good for tonight. He was noticeably different Sunday from Friday. Pitching 3 times in 5 days might be rough on him. Same with McHugh...I think he is your long-relief option just in case Verlander can't go far (GOD FORBID).

I like Gregerson tonight. While he has a small sample in the postseason, it is pretty good (and in meaningless situations besides last game). He has only faced one Dodger batter (Taylor -- strikeout), and he is the most rested besides Liriano.

He can get that strikeout we might need, but he is a wild card for sure.

I think we throw McCullers if we are up 3-4 runs late and the Dodgers get a couple on. If we are losing I think Hinch saves Lance for tomorrow.

I don't know how the Dodgers will do their lineup tonight, but I like Gregerson in a matchup vs Taylor Turner or Puig. And I've been a big time Gregerson hater. But I don't know I like him against the lefties between those three. Maybe the guys after Puig like Pederson possibly
