Just heard on the radio broadcast that Dusty has declared that Michael Brantley will bat #2 in the lineup…Brantley still hasn’t had an AB in the Spring….I already want dusty to frick off
Interdasting. He's always been a fit there but of course if it ain't broke (Pena), why fix it (FODB)?
Tuve
Mike
Yed
Breg
Tucker
Abreu
Pena
Chake/Jas
OMGWTHC
Or since he sucks now, Jose can bat behind OMGWTHC.

I'm good with Uncle Mike in the 2 hole. He's got on base at a .360 to .370 clip during his time in Houston. Pena had some success in the 2 hole last year (correlation or causation) but even then his OBP was .315.
Even if Pena improves his overall numbers this year, he's still unlikely to get on base at the same rate as Mike. I'd rather have the bases more frequently occupied ahead of Alvarez, Tuck and Abreu. JP can up behind them rather than set the table.

How has Luis Garcia looked in the spring?

Astros GM Dana Brown provided an update on his efforts to extend members of the club’s core while speaking on a radio broadcast this afternoon, as noted by Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle. Brown acknowledged that the club is in extension negotiations with Casey Close, the agent of Houston outfielder Kyle Tucker, saying, “We’re optimistic. We think we can get something done.” while also acknowledging that any contract discussions would likely be tabled if a deal was not in place by Opening Day. Brown also mentioned that the club has begun discussions with left-hander Framber Valdez and his agent about a potential extension, as well.

Casey Close helped frick up Freddie Freeman's return to the Braves, which resulted in Freeman to the Dodgers. Close also showed his arrogant arse during the Brady Aiken fiasco. So his presence probably doesn't help matters.

Not bad without the dance steps.

Uncle Mike probably won't be ready for opening day. His timeline was a photo finish to be ready or a week into the season according to brown but he's now left camp for a family matter.

Family matters are better than shoulder issues or anything health related
Got a friend that brings his son to Brantley's old man in Asheville for hitting lessons
I'll see what I can find out

Brown looked good in the 1st. Sitting 96. 2 strikeouts, a single ans a Groundout.
David Himsley just went yard

Browns 2nd inning went to hell. Walked the bases loaded with nobody out and got pulled from the game. He hasn't looked good in either of his starts. His control has been arse with 8 walks in 3+ innings

Yeah, that’s far from good
I’m counting on him to produce more than McStrain

I hope we are all ready for 15 or so Bielak starts.
Posted on 3/6/23 at 4:10 pm to LSUBoo
That’s my concern right now for sure. Maybe still time to swing a small deal for better rotation depth or claim someone who gets squeezed off another roster. I’d rather use Seth Martinez as a 3-4 inning opener than BielAAAAk at this point

There are still serviceable SPs available. Time for an insurance piece.
Or Tyler Bauer.
