It's time to start talking baseball Lady and gents.
The Astros are in the midst of one of the greatest runs for an MLB organization in our lifetimes.
There is no more room for desperation in the DAT leave that shite for the Rangers fans.
There is no more room for faux outrage in the DAT, leave that shite for the Cubs fans.
There is no more room for shitty takes for upvote clicks in the DAT, leave that shite for the Dodgers fans.
There is no more room for delirium in the DAT, leave that shite for the Yankees fans.
We need the effort to be a bit better than a Kyle frickin Schwarber attempt at a bunt in the World Series with 2 strikes and 2 outs with no one on base.
I'm talking about bringing the clutchness of a Chas wall-banging catch.
I'm talking about the impact of a 450-foot Yordan blast to take charge of WS.
I'm talking about bringing the nastiness of a Javier invisible fastball during a World Series no-hitter.
I'm talking about bringing the grit of the old school Manager FODB, shunning the naysayers... fricking off and taking names.
I'm talking about bringing the oozing charisma of a Jeremy Pena smile and fingers curled into a heart symbol after winning a World Series MVP.
If Luis Garcia can learn a new wind-up...
If Martin Maldonado can lose 17 pounds in the offseason before a contract year...
The DAT can also raise the level of expectations and meet it.
I mean, we won't.
But, we can.

If he does not get injured this season, he probably makes his MLB debut with us. Not that it means a whole lot.

Mathematically impossible.

I'm not going to lie to y'all... I won't miss Luis Garcia's windup one bit.
Posted on 2/16/23 at 2:39 pm to LSUBoo
If it means he’s less effective I will

Hitters have a higher AVG, OBP, SLG, and OPS against Garcia when no runners are on (windup) compared to when there are runners on.
He does seem to strike out more hitters out of the windup, but overall he's less effective.
Hopefully it doesn't mess with his head though.

I'll be honest, I'm going to miss it.
It was a throwback to my younger days of pitchers expressing themselves with home-grown windups.
Dan Quisenberry
Mitch Williams
Tim Lincecum
Hideo Nomo
Fernando Valenzuela
And then add in the bigger-than-life personalities of Nolan, Niekro, Richards, Gibson, Gooden, Rollie Fingers and Eckersly...
it just seems today's baseball players have transitioned to a more look-at-me-because-I-want-you-to-look-at-me (like that stupid-looking ginger with his arm sticking out like a broken sparrow wing) personalities instead of the years-ago "i don't care if you look at me, I'm doing it my way because that's how I want to do it" mentality.
Seems Garcia was merely doing that windup because that's how he taught himself to pitch and it made him feel confident.

I'm curious that now Dusty finally won a ring as a manager, are we going to be saying FODB any less, or will we go back to saying that multiple times a game for every single game this year?

To be fair... his "you get a rest," "you get a rest!," "you get a rest," "you get a rest!!" strategy worked in the end.
Or they won a shitton of games and stayed mostly healthy despit it?

Someone call the interwebs police. Some kid has gone and hacked Menace's account.
