Yainer spends like a day with the team and gets forever memorialized in the 2022 team photo. Jake spends months with the team and misses photo day

Espada and Brantley also missing.

My son would rather forget his time with the 2022 Astros.

Lineup is out... Yainer? Hardly know her!

Dusty getting Yuli rested so he's ready to start every playoff game.
This Yanier fellow you guys speak of, he can catch right? Wouldn't that make Vazquez available to DH?
No? okay

After Wednesday night and the disastrous double steal where Baker threw him under the bus after the game ...

I can only hope Vasquez isn’t batting to give Hensley more live game reps

It’s terrifying to take a trip inside the mind of Dusty and try to figure out what makes his pet players and what doesn’t. In extremely limited time Hensley has clearly become one of his guys (fine with me). Dubon also did very quickly as well. What did Diaz do in the one game he’s played that angered him? What about veterans like Vazquez and Mancini (who know plays only because he’s been forced to)

Vazquez is in the doghouse. He might not get 5 more starts this season.

Vasquez
-has yet to catch McCullers
-has a .313 on base percentage through 21 games with the Astros
-he’s fourth in batting average, sixth in OBP among Astros since his trade
So he’s a good hitter, but you want him to only pinch hit? What exactly is the “balance” to be struck?
And you say he’s got to get to know the pitchers before starting, but then are limiting he opportunities to catch all the starters?

Astros manager Dusty Baker said he has tried to strike a balance between the desire to have Vázquez’s bat in the lineup and the need to have him available off the bench to pinch hit for Maldonado in later innings.

“He was a good hitter when he got here, and I knew that,” Baker said. “It was just a matter of him getting to know the pitchers.”

You forgot 0/2 in SB attempts, which is all Dusty sees.

Cool it with the “fan stats”. Baseball isn’t played on your fancy computer screen. It’s played on the scarred MMP outfield grass.

Should probably let him get to know the pitchers now so that he's even more familiar in the post-season. Just my opinion.
Not that it makes a huge difference either way.

A's are the first AL team mathematically eliminated from the playoffs.
