Looks like Wilin Rosario on rehab (?) has been the only guy who has been able to touch (up) Appel tonight. Otherwise, he is kicking arse. Praise be.

“He was 19, but even then it was like: ‘Could this guy make the team?’ ” said reliever Chad Qualls, a 12-year veteran. “They said he hadn’t even gotten out of A-ball. I said, ‘Are you kidding me?’ His hand-eye coordination, his approach at the plate, is unbelievable. He knows what he’s doing. He has a big league approach, and he’s only 20 years old. It’s amazing to see the things he can do.”

Astros Manager A. J. Hinch, who worked for the San Diego Padres in 2012, spent a week then scouting Correa in Puerto Rico. By this spring, Hinch’s first as the Astros’ manager, there were no more doubts. The power has shown itself: Correa is the first shortstop in at least 100 years to hit nine home runs in his first 42 major league games. As for his ability to field his position at his size, Correa is only an inch taller than

Appel has owned the rest of the 'Topes! No hits and 10 K's through 7. OMG, signs of LIFE!

If Appel works out, then to the combination of Astros GM's who have drafted the last 5 years. They did it exactly right. No more Carlos Lee/Miguel Tejada signings forever.
