I really wish the rotation was healthy right now so we could throw Peacock into some high leverage situations and see how he responds. I'm still bullish on Peacock as a really good reliever

I agree, but I don't think Peacock's control issues at times fit with high-leverage fireman opportunities. We were hoping Devo and Harris were the pair to do it, but one is struggling and the other is hurt.
What Hinch needs to figure out is who he can trust to come into tight games with runners on base. Assuming Harris comes back healthy, he is the best option if/until Devo gets his act together.

Agreed. 5 walks per 9 with an insanely low home run rate. He's given up 2 home runs all year in 75 innings. That'll probably regress to a more normal level. I just hope it's not after he's walked a bunch or guys.

Bingo! To me, this is the most concerning aspect of the team followed closely by quality starting pitching. We have not been as adept at getting to relievers as consistently as we were so protecting the leads we do have are paramount now.
The first pitcher, whether starter or reliever gets us off to a bad start in an inning and the guy hinch goes to can never get out of it cleanly it seems.

For those keeping hope alive, Verlander has officially cleared waivers.

But we needed to claim him to not risk it!

The talks had better already be taking place.

That right, Ludlow!

Jim crane appreciates your concern for his pocket book. Likely though we are late on negotiations at this point

No reason to get stuck with his contract, he was never going to get claimed. If Detroit were to trade him and eat cash that's extra $ we can use on free agent relievers this offseason. Paying the prospect price is my preferred route. Unfortunately it may not be Luhnow's right now.

People are going to poop their pants when Keuchel is traded this offseason.

It would make Luhnow look even worse if he were to give up prospects for verlander now. It would just solidify how bad they screwed up before the deadline.

I don't think so.
Now, if he gives up Tucker and Whitley, then it looks really bad, but if he gives up one bottom half of top 10 guy and then some middling prospects, that's a good move.

All depends on how much of his contract they eat.
Regardless Detroit knows we are desperate. we will have to overpay

If the twitter guy was right before the deadline, Detroit would have to eat A LOT of his contract to get any value in return. Good for us if true.

I'd guess DET would have to eat about half of the salary.

This is also assuming that Verlander would even allow a trade to go through. He's a 5/10 guy so has veto power on all trades.

Making my first game of the year tonight. My W/L is pretty impressive attending Astros games, something like 11-1. I'll be in attendance this weekend and next in Arlington to help right this ship.
Side note. Ticket prices have jumped big time over the past 2 years. Obviously the Astros are having a great year, so more people are showing up. But the exact same tickets I got 2 years ago at this time of the year were $40-50 cheaper. I'd like to know how lucrative of a year this has been for Crane.
Also for the regulars. Do you find you can pick up tickets at the park for significantly cheaper than the ticket sites? And can you do so reliably? Tough for me to chance this route coming from BR.
